It takes a while for the terms and forms to kind of sink in - best place to start might be in the Guides section above under the "What Visa Do We Need?" section/link.

If you're not already married or don't have any near-future plans to get married than a K-1 (form I-129f used for this) is pretty much your only choice.

If you are married or plan to marry before petitioning the government - then you have two choices; a K-3 or CR-1 visa.

There are step-by-step guides for all three.

Fastest isn't always the 'best' - everything kind of depends on what your future plans are or what your timetable is.

that is a guide from above....will help you decide which way you should go.

the i-129 is more expensive then the i-130

the i-130 takes longer (usually) then the i-129f

if he is only your boyfriend right now and you plan on getting engaged for the time being, the i-129f is the way to go. the i-130 is a spouse visa.

the i-129 can go as quick as 4-5 months and as much as over a year. of course it takes longer for the countries who have not so good of a rap of illegal immigration.

if you have good evidence and can return forms in a decent time frame....you can do it in 4-6 months.

of course, i am no lawyer and my numbers are estimates/my own opinion.

look into the timelines at the top and click on the timeline for the i-129/i-130 to see what petitions are getting processed now. you either will send your petition to california or vermont for the i-129. depends on what state the united states citizen lives in (IE- illinois=california).

I kinda get the idea.. but we also have a special case so it may take a bit longer anyway - infact I know it will.

I just dont know which way to go.. still think I-129 maybe the faster way for me.

I-129 is a petition for a non-immigrant worker and an I-130 is a petition for an immediate relative... currently your bf is neither

YMMV
