aloha all,

i know this is a very hypothetical question with no exact answer possible, but because my work is not being very flexable with my time-off allowed- i will ask it anyways.....and i do appreciate your answers!

we have an interview on july 13th, its a monday. i feel real good about our chances of success as we have been married for 2 years and have a very well documented history of nearly six years (i have been back to see her probably 25 times, and we have traveled to about 10 different countries together)

the crux of the problem is my work will only give me 1 week off. ideally, i would like to be there with her for the medicle exam, the interview, and the reception of visa and flight back to my home together in maui. obviously, the exam she can do herself, and probably the interview as well. but the travel part by herself i feel i should be with her (not alot of direct flights from phnompenh to maui!) she is pretty much a country bumpkin, and she would have to fly to a 3rd country (thai, viet, singapore, malay, etc.) overnight there (as well as have the correct visa for said country) then fly to japan, onward to honolulu, clear customs, then arrange interisland travel onward to maui. not an easy task, and we have not even discussed purchasing the air tickets.

should i -

1) go to the interview on monday, hope that we can get the visa by friday, then hop on a plane and start the journey home on saturday. (if that didnt work, i would probably have to fly back the next week or so and make a long weekend to fly her back - expensive, and a pain in da butt)

2) or, send her to the interview by herself, then when she receives her visa, fly over and bring her back (i feel very strongly about being at the interview)

oh, did i point out that my boss is a total jerkoff....he could easily cut me the time off - i even have an abundance of vacation time to use !!!!!

whaddaya think??

anyone with experience with the phnompenh us embassy care to tell me what you think based on your time there?

mahalo, akun, appleegg

SORRY FOR THE CONFUSION - after my wife made it to the USA, family emergency neccesatated her immediate return to her home in cambodia. unfortunately before she was able to adjust her status, thus the case was abandanded. we now are filing both k-3 (married in usa) and have petioned both i-129f and 1-130 .....so, our "journey" has once again began. thank you for all your help and understanding - appleegg and sreyon.

From my experience in the region I would say that you should wait till she has visa in hand to bring her back. Then even if you can only take a long weekend off, you can fly over, get her and bring her back. That alone is worth it, as your description of her journey over, alone, would be a bit daunting. Being at the interview would be quite important, but if it doesn't quite go as planned, at least you can go over to help her straighten it out.

I was just showing photos I had taken in Siam Reap to a few colleagues today.

All the best to the two of you.
