Good morning all,

I have tried to find an answer to this but am still uncertain.

I am currently a PR, and have filed a I-130 for my husband.

I have my citizenship interview on July 12 - and hopefully will be naturalized next month.

What is the best way to update the I-130 to show that it has been filed by a citizen? I found one website with a fax number and form to submit to the CSC - but haven't seen this anywhere else.

My current plan is to call the 1-800 number on the day I take the oath to tell them, and mail a copy of my certificate to the CSC.

Thanks so much!

Sandy

What if I become a U.S. citizen while a relative is waiting

for a visa?

If you become a U.S. citizen while your relative is waiting for a visa,

you can upgrade your relative’s visa classification by upgrading your

petition. Husbands/wives and unmarried children under age 21 of

U.S. citizens have visas immediately available to them.

• If you become a U.S. citizen after your relative’s petition is

already approved and sent to the U.S. Department of State, you

should notify the NVC by sending a copy of your naturalization

certificate to them. Please include a letter with information

regarding your relative and his/her copy of petition approval.

• If you become a U.S. citizen and your relative’s petition has not

yet been approved by USCIS, see our website or call customer

service for information.

I had a quick look on the website but couldnt find anything so perhaps calling the NCSC 1800 number would be the go.

I think, you are a permanent resident of USA. As a permament resident of USA, you will be able to file I130 for your wife, but it takes a long time that way. I am not sure, when you can apply for your US citizenship. You can only pursue K-3 and K-4 after you become a US Citizen, since a permanent resident can not use this option. Since you are in the US Navy, you can apply for your US Citizenship, 3 years (even maybe after 2 years 9 months) after you become the permanent resident.
