I e-mailed MTL and am still waiting for a response, noticed that this topic was kinda covered in the ppl waiting for an interview at MTL thread but not really...

Did everyone bring this signed letter from the bank or have people been ok without it , it is the only think we don't have. We have tax returns, a statement from his employer, pay stubs and a statement from his bank showing balances. I'm just wondering how important the date the account was opened is if you have everything else...I found this

The Sponsor must submit in duplicate evidence of income and resources, as appropriate:

A. Statement from officer of the bank or other fincial institution where you have deposits, giving the following details regarding your account:

1. Date account opened;

2. Total amount deposited for the past year;

3 Present balance.

B. Statement of your employer on business stationary, showing:

1. Date and nature of employment;

2. Salary paid;

3. Whether the position is temporary or permanent.

C. If self-employed:

1. Copy of last income tax return filed; or

2. Report of commercial rating concern.

D. List containing serial numbers and denomination of bonds and name of record owner(s).

So is this like A, B or C and D if applicable or both A and B?

I think you need to have the date you/your fiance opened the account.

We had a letter saying when it was opened, current balance and average deposit per month.

It's a standard letter, any bank should do it. My fiance got it in 2 min at the front desk of the bank.

Ours was the same, just a standard letter from the bank that listed:

Date Opened

Current Balance

Average Balance per month

I think that the point of it is to show that the money wasn't just "borrowed" for a couple of months to show a huge balance for the interview.

Removing Conditions

Sent package to VSC - 8/12/11

NOA1 - 8/16/11

Biometrics - 9/14/11

Ty for the reply, the e-mail i recieved was so unhelpful "Documents will be evaluated at Interview" and that was it... Getting these documents from a bank out of state is turning out to be a PITA, Oh well, 27 sleeps til the interview.

I did not take a letter from my fiance's bank, just pay stubs, a letter from his employer stating his yearly salary and his last bank statement. They were happy with that and did not ask for anything else.

Well I am very glad to hear this because getting these letters is turning out to be a nightmare, my fiance's banks are both outside of the state he is in now. We are waiting on the letter from Navy Fed to be mailed to him so he can send it to me, but his other bank, I can't remember the name of it atm told him that he needs to call INS and file paperwork with them and hung up....I'm sorry you need to call INS to get a letter from your bank outlinning the date the account was opened and deposit history and current balance???

Honestly, I would just go without the bank letter. A lot of people are never asked for it. I gave it to them and I never actually saw anyone look at it... all they looked at was the 2008 income tax return and the pay stubs. If its really important and they want it, you can always track one down and fax it to them later. It would suck to go through all that work for nothing...
