Hey all!!! I am visiting my husband right now, it's great. And going through customs was a breeze but I had all

My ties to Canada letters too. I told the truth and they didn't seem to care too much. Just an FYI.

Anyway we called USCIS and it was fine and the was polite but basically just told us what we already knew.

He also explained procedure to me as well. But, here's my question, I read that a member here called The Kims had

A way to reach a second tier officer -- someone with info pertaining to specific cases not just general info.

So, anyone know this tip? If member The Kims is reading this, PM me. Thanks.

Another odd thing for you all ? I am the beneficiary and I told the agent that but

He let me carry on with the enquiry?? Odd? I have no idea.

Anyway, your help is appreciated as always. Best to all

:)

I've called USCIS a few times, when they can't locate your case in the system (which was our situation) they give you to an officer. I'm under the impression that the people that work there answering are just clerks and don't have access to the records outside of the status system.

If you're in the system & you're within the processing time, they probably won't offer you to speak to an officer - but you can always ask to speak to an officer and see what they say. Doesn't hurt to ask :)

Hope this helps,

Suzy :star:

The front-line Misinformation clerks are REQUIRED to escalate your call to an actual immigration officer when you so request. The clerks will almost certainly resist, but you must insist, and they must comply.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Each time I call I reach a second tier customer service representative. You just have to be firm and break them out of that script that they are reading at the first tier. If you are just calling for basic info. There is no need for a second tier customer service rep. But if you are calling to get specific info about your case, then you just simply have to insist that they help you. I was being told to wait 30 days to receive my NOA1 by the first tier rep even after I specifically told them that I would never receive it because I needed to change my address but didn't have my case number to change the address with. I knew my check was cashed and my case was at CSC but I would never get a case number.

After haggling with this person I just had to say, "look does it make sense to you for me to wait another 30 days to get a piece of mail that will NEVER come to my current address? I will just be calling you again in 30 days to tell you the same thing I'm telling you now." I got put on hold and next thing I knew, I was at the second level of customer service where the gave me not only my case number but the date my case reached each step from arriving in Chicago, leaving chicago, arriving in CSC, check cashed, info processed and case number assigned.

Just be firm and reason with them so that they realize that you really need to get some service NOW....not 30 days from now.

Good luck
