morning Ladies;

My son (5 years old) received his first award this morning "Student Achievment Award"...so, he goes on stage to get his award and shouts out, "what's up mommy, I love you" -- then flashes the I love you sign with his hand...it's also cultural awareness day, so they give him the mic (BIG, MISTAKE)... he shouts out "big up to all the JAMAICANS - Jah rastafari, then says thank you. My friend sent him a DVD on the true history of rasta (not) dread and he's watched it so many times. I'm so proud of him though, he's been through a lot this school year and he's managed to perform well above his age level.

just wanted to share....sus; I need a happy picture, co-workers pissing me off

That is so cute! Will look for a pic in a minute -

Yes! I am so excited about the JetBlue thing!! I can get 99 from Portland Me to NYC then 99 to SLU! that would bring it down to about 1200 I think for all of us. I hope they extend those rates for New Years!

Everytime I see those I think of the show, I dream of GENIE or something like that from the 70s..

Quanna, gels don't work well on some hair textures...I've gone natural twice and it was just too much hair to manage. When I use to plat or braid my hair wet then let it out people laughed at me back in the mid 90s, but now it's style... I'm find a photo and ya'll can't laugh at me

sus/Irie; I was so proud, but the Jah Rastafari, caught me off guard...after he said thank you he told the audience he'll be in Jamaica for a month in August. So, all the students were like ooooooooooooo.

He wanted me to explain the 12 tribes to him, but I had a memory block.

The 12 Tribes is a few things... a "spinoff" so to say of the Rastafarian religion. Bob Marley belonged to the 12 tribes at his time of death. They beleived all races/sexes should be treated equally. They gave more rights to women, treated them better. For instance a woman isnt isolated while on her period.

the 12 tribes also signify the 12 sons of Jacob. They coinside with the 12 months of the year too. The Tribes are Reuben,Simeon,Levi,Judah,Dan,Naphtali,

Gad,Asher,Issachar, Zebulun ,Joseph and Benjamin.

I am sure there is so much more... but that what I know off the top of my head.

Quanna, I'm serious when I use to go to dances, people would look at me like I've lost my mind. Once year when I went to sting in Jamaica and I got outside at the airport, they throught we were celebreties, we were FIERCE...

ya a trendsetter my gyal!!! i am like u.. i wear my hair the way i like it regardless of who say..

Irie; that's about all I could remember. I know 12 tribes can go to any church they want to and I think the Bobo Shanti are the strictest group and Nyahbinghi is the oldest.

Nah, Bunz - Jetblue is pretty good and pretty on track with their deals - When they first start out, you can't always find the low fare - but once they get a route running, you can get some bargains -

Congrats Nat on the " Best Speech" I know you have to be happy about that! :star:

LOL about Kool Runnings, we have passed there plenty of times but I never went in, I rather go to the ocean. Regarding the park being Fluffy friendly girl, be confident in your skin I know I'm fluffy but you can't tell me I am not the ish ( the plus size Lisa Ray  ) who cares what anyone else thinks! Cute in the face thick in the waist LOL. Sis you only live once go an have fun with your Man!

(As she runs up and high fives Philly..) I know that's right preach on sista preach on. Whoo Quana I think you have a guest speaker I just may sit down and listen to the sermon after all. LOL

Eve though for me I'm cute in the face and thick in the waist, hips and butt..lol

But I think what Nat means is are the slides fluffy friendly? U know us thick chicks can’t get on everything. That is like me I refuse to sit I a chair that isn’t made of metal. Un un those plastic chairs wont work for me. I went to cookout this weekend an I refused to sit down unless I found a metal chair. I just don’t think they can hold my weight and you won’t get a laugh out of me seeing me on the ground. No sir Bob!! I also test my chairs first like I push on them real hard before mi sit mi rass in dem. A sista has to make sure.

See In Jamaica most of the Jamaicans are thin (even though I’m sure the park was made for tourist) so I’m not sure either if the slides are made for my voluptuous curves. The last thing I would want is to go down the slide and get stuck in the middle or get brush burns from my thighs rubbing on the slide or worst yet look like Raquisha coming down. Heck to the not!!!

I just mailed of the petition to file for my stepdaughter. Wish us luck!

YAYYYYY finesse.. many blessings on ur next journey! how old is ur stepdaughter.. do u have any other children?

she is 10 and I have a son that is 12

oh thats cool that they are close in age.. ur son will have a lil sister to protect heehee...

i know....this could be great or be potentially disastrous. blending families is no easy task...

LOL... i was gonna say or a lil sister to get on his last nerve LOL, but i thought i should be positive..

one of the reason i stayed married so long even tho we werent getting along.. i didn't want the stress and drama of the blended family.. i couldn't imagine my girls w/ another man or w/ other kids.. but i know it can work.. it will just take time..

question.. how long did it take for u to be comfortable w/ leaving ur kids home alone w/ ur husband. I trust roger but i want my girls to gain a trust for him.. i have to work on weekends sometimes and at first i plan to either not work or leave the kids w/ my mom until i feel they are ok?? any thoughts??

I think that is best to leave the kids with your mom or skip work and we know you will need the money so I say leave them with you mom. I would say not to leave them alone with him until you are SERIOUS about him becoming your husband. When he comes to visit this is your trial period so Until your defiantly ready I would say pass on it and that will also help eliminate stress with the ex too. I have a feeling once he sniffs RG is in the air he may get the girls even more. The good thing is the girls know about RG so that is 1/2 the battle. Honestly though I think your motherly instinct will kick in when you know its time.

thanks dada.. its hard man.. esp w/ girls. i don't want to PUSH a relationship between them, i want everything to happen naturally..

LMAO, Dada - Your chair story reminds me of a woman that was on the beach when we were in Negril - She was Extra fluffy - the first beach lounger she was on cracked - so she had the guard stack FOUR of them together for her to lay on - It was so high she could barely climb up!
