"Our Wedding Prayer"

Lord, help us to remember when we first met,and the strong love that grew between us.

To work the love into practical things so nothing can divide us

Grant us a Love that grows stronger with each passing year.

We ask for words both kind and loving

and for hearts always ready to ask forgiveness as well as to forgive.

Guide us to overcome every challenge

and keep our dreams pure to each other always.

Dear Lord,we put our marriage into Your hands.Amen

If your heart acquires strength, you will be able to remove blemishes from others without thinking evil of them.

It's not true that you cannot use a travel agency if it's your first time to get a passport because I did and it was my first time. I know all the troubles at DFA and I didn't want to go through those so I had an agency to do it for me and paid PhP1500 for everything. But it's true that you will have to go there for PA (personal appearance) and that's when you will provide valid identifications. Since I couldn't meet the requirements -- no SS ID, voter's, driver's license, etc... -- the person who will approve my application asked me to provide old documents i.e. school records, papers that will show my signature, NBI clearance and whatnot. I only got high school year book (with my picture on it) and school clearance for school documents so I brought it with me along with the NBI clearance, old residence certificates for the last 2 years and a barangay clearance which is 10 years old. It all showed the signature that I have been using. He also made me do 3 signatures and checked it for consistency. And finally, the DFA officer was satisfied and approved my application. When I asked the agent assigned to me why all those checking, he said DFA wanted to make sure that I am who I am saying and not applying a passport using somebody's identity (which is very common in Pinas). It made sense...

See bolded/underlined statement... While it's true that I used an agency to get a passport for the first time, it didn't mean that I did not go to DFA in person. I went there for personal appearance, which I did the thumb marking, signing documents and providing identifications. Using the agency saved me from going there at 3:00am just to fall in line and go through the God-knows-how-many-steps/procedures. When my passport was ready, the agency picked it up for me and mailed it to my address.

Edit to add: I checked your link and it's for renewing your passport once you are here in US. My statement above was in reference to getting a passport for the first in the Philippines.

P3,000 is way too much to pay for a passport. Between P1,000 ~ P1,500 is reasonable if you are applying through a travel agency.

And how can you affix your thumb mark if you use travel agency may i know?! Passport

I used to work for the Travel Dept. of a major corporation in the Philippines. Our travel agency did all the legwork for us at the DFA even for first time passport applicants. All we did was to fill up application forms, have applicants affix the thumbprint, submit requirements then wait for the agent to advise us the date and time for the personal appearance and another fingerprinting if need be. They have it all worked out between the DFA and the travel agents.

I just wonder why the DFA have to set up passport appointment application system in order not to queue up if agencies still involved..and also the personal appearance (required)makes me wonder,(i think it is just me being daft)anyways nothing is impossible in this country specially when you have money,i had my passport renewed last week and i just went to the air21 and paid 100 pesos for delivery...God bless people...

I paid Php1,500 for mine but that was 2 years ago. It could be a little bit higher now so it is better for first-time applicants to make sure that they are not being overpriced.

Travel Agencies do their jobs well, I can say. And for me they are not overpricing because it is P750 in DFA for the fastest passport delivery and P1000 at some Travel Agencies. I asked a Travel Agency in Cebu later part of 2008 and that was the price they gave me, though I applied on my own at Tacloban City.
