Here in Australia from what i'm led to believe,we get allocated an interview date once they receive packet 3

You actually have to send in section 1 of the DS 230. (biographical data). I haven't seen that before.

This office has received a petition entitling you to K-1 nonimmigrant visa classification as an alien proceeding to the United States to marry an American citizen. To prepare for your interview appointment with a consular officer, please read and follow carefully the instructions below:

Complete and return immediately to this office the form DS-230, Immigrant Visa Application Part I, Biographic Data. We cannot process your case until this form is received.

Did you mail that in already?

After that you need to fill in all your forms, obtain all your documents, and mail them with some other form called DSL-1076.

Fill out two copies and sign forms DS-156, Nonimmigrant Visa Application. Please refer to our forms page for information regarding the Electronic Visa Application Form (EVAF). If your children will apply with you, two copies of forms DS-156 for each child must be completed in full, including photograph. Form DS-156K, Nonimmigrant Fiancé(e) Visa Application is to be completed by the principle applicant only. Do not sign this form, it is to be signed in front of the consular officer on the day of your interview. All questions must be answered.

When you have obtained all of the documents required for your case, complete and mail all of your documents (do not fax or scan) with DSL-1076 to advise the U.S. Consulate General in Sydney that you are ready for your final visa.

DO NOT SIGN FORM DS-156K. They want you to sign that one when you get to your interview. Just answer all the questions on DS-156K

Ok cool , so you fill out ds156, ds156k. OH I see why you fill out DS-230, They are using that in place of the DS-157. See every embassy has their own little prefrences.

Along with the ds-156 and ds-156k, attach the following documents:

http://canberra.usembassy.gov/consular/visas/iv/fiance.html . <---look there for the documents they want. It looks like they want you to mail your passport in too. Also a I-134 affidavit of support. Everything that you normally bring with you to the interview at other embassies, they want you to mail them there in Australia. You need BIG envelope. But it also says bring Evidence of Relationship with you. It doesnt say mail that evidence. And you need to get a medical exam, they give you a list of places to go for the medical exam on this webpage.

When you have gathered all documentation, complete and mail the DSL-1076 form to the U.S. Consulate General, Sydney. That office will contact you with your visa interview time. Please do not fax forms DS-230 Part I and DSL-1076, the originals must be mailed.

Hope this info helps you.

Ok great. Its really nice to have someone who went thru it recently at the same place that your doing it. I went thru all of this myself a little over 3 years ago in Manila. But I did everything on my own, I learned a lot of things the hard way. Then I came accross another website like this with discussion boards and I was like how stupid am I LOL. Things that took me weeks to figure out, calls I made, Etc. Etc. , It was all right here online, all the info. And back then Manila's website was kinda not updated on a lot of stuff. I think a lot of people complained because right now everything they have on their website is what they really do LOL. Its accurate now. I heard from many people that Thailand is real easy, and the day you have your interview, if you pass, you go back the next day and pick-up your visa right at the embassy. No waiting for them to deliver it. In Philippines, if you dont live right there close to Manila, you might be waiting to get the visa and passport delivered to you for a week or 2. Anyway good luck and I hope you get your packet quickly.

I'm trying to Wendy... Still haven't received a reply back from Cairo consulate about my 'change of mailing address' request yet... NVC hasn't given John a DHL tracking number to track the visa and so now we know it must be in Cairo but is it in the embassy yet.. Still no reply... They only take calls between Sunday and Thursday just for three hours.. And they don't answer case specific questions over the phone anyway... And the NVC case number John got isn't working on the Cairo Consulate website 'yet', a lady from NVC told him the case probably is not in the consulate system yet... So here I am waiting, trying to have patience...

NVC will not give a tracking number... You can kind of track it by inputting CORRESPONDENCE in the reference field http://track.dhl-usa.com/TrackByRef.asp?nav=TrackByRef then 03801 as the Origin Postal Code. Then select the date they sent to Cairo and the day after as the date range... This should be enough for a list of deliveries.. then look for Cairo.. Yours is likley one of the ne or two shipments listed... You can track them, but can't be sure if 'your' paperwork is specifically in it.

I did it and the tracking numbers are 9211350245 and 9211351402 from the 18th and none from Monday the 21st.. so both of the files that left on the right date for your package are there as of the 22nd

You can go here and eneter those 2 numbers http://track.dhl-usa.com/TrackByNbr.asp?nav=Tracknbr

So your stuff has been there a few days now...

Scott I couldnt figure out how to get my tracking info from DHL :( can you help?

He has likely been through two so far and you may have been through two but likely 1 at NVC.. They will do another on both of you at the consulate if they feel like it... or maybe just one more for you...

Yep you made it through checks already....

Wendy,

You are calling 603-334-0700 tomorrow  and then when you get to the automated system select 5

Have his name and DOB ready along with yours and the EAC#... they will give you the consulate number and let you know if they still have it or if it left already...

Ok :)

Well I received an email from the embassy this morning that they sent out packet 3 this morning. They said nothing about my change of mailing address request (I sent a few emails and got no reply for the past week). So I sent them an email this morning asking which address they sent the packet to. I got no reply as usual! So I tried calling them all day.. Waited on the phone for 25 minutes, then 40 minutes, then 15 minutes and nobody even picks up

I waited a few hours then called DHL and told him the whole story in the beginning they refused to give me any info about the packet assuming I'm not ME lol.. Then they asked me about my full name, phone number, address and so on.. And then they told me that packet is being sent the physical address.. That means the embassy has been ignoring all my requests and the note we left with the I-129F!! Anyway, I fixed the problem with DHL over the phone and I'm picking the packet up myself tomorrow before going work... Now it seems like I can't reach anyone in the embassy over the phone lately, they haven't been replying my emails, and responding to my requests...

Do you think it's a good idea to attach a note in packet 3 with the mailing address or would that be off point?
