POE Windsor/Detroit, Ambassador Bridge

I activated my K-1 at the Ambassador Bridge and found everyone there fairly polite. The guy at the booth looked at tha visa in my Bermuda passport, looked at his screen and asked me if I lived in Canada. When I told him that I had lived there up to a couple of years ago, he nodded. Then he told me that it was to bad that I was importing my car because if I wasn't he wouldn't even have to send me to secondary. In secondary, we had to wait because a very angry American who tried to go through the Nexus line without a pass was screaming and swearing at the border patrol people for stopping him.

Phil was with me though so that may have been why things were so smooth.

If I didn't have so many things in storage in Canada, I would have looked to have used the Bermuda airport POE. Island living seems to agree with the border guys there. They smile and joke around with everyone. When we left Bermuda last week, the guy saw the code on my green card and said to Phil, "I see you got her on the try-before-you-buy program."

Sometimes when you are totally at the mercy of them - no matter how rude they are - you just shut up and take one for the team so you can get in and get it over with! I used to go through secondary a lot when ever I was visiting my husband and I admit I put up with a lot and did some pretty serious A$$ kissing! "oh... yes sure, thank you sir, of course we knew it'd be up to you on the day sir..." Who is going to complain and start a fuss when your visit/entry is based on that person...?

That's me too. I am always polite and pleasant when I'm dealing with customs & immigration officers. I am always hopeful that it will rub off on them. lol

Who? Why anyone who is not interested in entering the country of course.

Obviously you WAIT until you are admitted and at your destination before you complain

This is not a communist country. I would absolutely be complaining and your American Citizen Husband/Wife/Fiance(e) should be too!

Thanks for the review.

Though I've had both good and bad experiences at the bridge, that'll be our POE when my blessed arrival date comes. Thankfully, Ben'll be with me, so that should calm my nerves a bit.

My best experiences, I have to say, have been first thing in the morning before dawn... everyone seems so much more pleasant before the sun creeps up! Wonder how I'll manage to convince him that we just HAVE to leave that early, haha.

01/08/2010 - Applied for SSN in maiden name.

01/09/2010 - Married! Officially a Missis.

01/19/2010 - Received SSN in mail.

02/10/2010 - Sent I-485/I-131/I-765 to Chicago.

02/19/2010 - NOA dates for all applications.

02/22/2010 - Received NOAs in mail.

02/23/2010 - Applied for SSN for married name.

03/04/2010 - Applied for Florida DL in married name.

03/09/2010 - Biometrics appointment.

04/18/2010 - AP received.

04/23/2010 - EAD approved.

04/27/2010 - AOS Interview at Orlando USCIS (decision pending).

04/28/2010 - Card production ordered!

05/03/2010 - EAD received.

We crossed at 3:15-4:00 and the people processing things were really friendly and polite. Everyone really, except the guy on a power trip because we were not standing in the right place.

My wife and I crossed around midnight on a Tuesday night/Wednesday morning and luckily there was a border guard who had immigrated and knew exactly what to do. Whenever I cross now after visiting my wife's family in Windsor we always smile at him, I'd like to think he remembers that one time and the 3,000 other times I crossed when visiting her Lol.

I've stayed away from the tunnel for the most part since my ol' clubbin days goin to Windsor just because I saw so many people getting guf from them, but that was probably due to some coming back waaaaay drunk haha.

My wife has been back since June 5, 2007. Now we're just livin' man, L I V I N :)

I'm like that too! There is ONE guy that recognizes me when I use Nexus. He's nice & jokes. He asks me everytime "so, you're still driving this bus!?!" (I'm borrowing my dad's van until I move).
