Hi!!

This is my first time posting! You have already given me so much information about the I-130. I don't think I would have done it right on my own! Everything is sorted now. All documents are in, and my wife has an interview on June 29th. Thank you all for the fabulous information!!! (NO LAWYER YAAAA!!!! :-))

My wife is Japanese. She had her medical exam, and they gave it to her in a SEALED envelope. What is in that envelope? I heard if there was a problem, they would send the medical results directly to the embassy, rather than giving her that SEALED envelope.

Does anyone know if this is true? I, for one, don't particularly like SEALED envelopes! :-P

Thank you all again, and congratulations to all who are being reunited with their love. I count the days till I am reunited with mine!!! :-D

Standard procedure... It is her medical exam report (not to be tampered with)

YMMV

Sealed envelop has her medical report. I don't know about Japan but in India if there is any problem with medical, the doctor lets the beneficiary know on the day of medical exam and beneficiary will have to do further treatment or exams accordingly.

So they do that with ALL reports? No distinction for "good" or "bad" reports?

Well I would assume if the applicant had a life threatening disease or condition they would tell them.....

Are you worried about something in particular?

YMMV

Sealed envelopes = delicious carmel popcorn inside.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS

I am a paranoid sort. I guess the HIV thing worries me the most. Something like if I had it...gave it to my wife...and she will not be let in the USA because of it. Then if that is the case, I wouldn't be let in Japan, and we would be in some sort of HIV limbo!

I don't think this is the case. I am faithful, but I was a bit crazy before we met. Like I said, I am a bit paranoid when it comes to SEALED envelopes! :help:

When I picked up my result, the receiptionist told me there was nothing wrong.

I don't know all clinics in Japan do that, but Tokyo British Clinic did.

The doctor I went to was super nnice, she was joking saying "So you don't be curious what there is inside this envelope I am going to show it to you", then she showed me all the papers that go inside that envelope and explained to me each item.

I remember there is a question there asking if the doctor thinks we are fake, she can pick yes or no and there is an empty space for them to write more about it.

So dont say anything wrong!

They gave us my medical exam results in a sealed envelope too. The nurse told us everything was normal. :) Of course if there's a problem, you'll be the first to know. You'll hear it from the doctor.
