Hahaha Celebratory steak meaning my wife got the pink little paper!!! lol My wife and I are full! Just got done eating about 1 hour ago.

Here is a summary of how her interview went...

Got there at 6:20ish and waited outside across the street. When they open the gates to the 1st building my wife went it. She told me they just put people in there to wait... kind of pointless... anyways when they opened the main building she went in security check point they scanned her bag full of evidence and paperwork... after that she went to window B to get her number A002 or something like that. She waited about 3 hours for them to call her number and within those 3 hours she saw mothers and kids get pink and saw some k1's get fail and some passes (more greens than pinks). Anyways after 3 hours of waiting anxiously and watching a bunch of people fail which made my wife really nervous they called her up to window 13 and turn in the preliminary paperwork like the DS-230 original birth certificate for me and my wife, and our marriage certificate. About 20 minutes later they called her into window 9 where a young Asian man was the interviewer and a young lady doing the translating. My wife said she was very rude to her trying to get my wife to stumble but good thing I told my wife act like you are better than the translator and she did just that and the translator couldn't trip up my wife at all cause she wasn't nervous and had eye contact the whole time. The CO was nice and understood Vietnamese according to my wife. But anyways some questions asked:

How many times did your husband come to Visit you?

5 Times and then Started living here after our dam hoi for more than a year and will continue living here until I get my visa.

The translator lady then exclaimed " So your husband quit his job to come here to be with you!"

No his company has a facility in Vietnam Allowing him to work here whenever he wants and will leave whenever I get my visa.

How come you and your husband have so many passport entry and exit stamps to Thailand? (we had like 10+ trips to Thailand that went together in both our passports)

His company has a facility in Thailand also and I go over there with him to be with him while he works. And we get time on his days off for recreation and we take trips to beautiful islands. (she offers to show pictures but the CO says she will look at them at the end of questioning.

Have you been anywhere else outside of Vietnam besides Thailand?

Nope

When did you have your wedding ceremony?

6-21-08

Are you Catholic?

Yes

Which Church did you get married in and where is it?

Ngoc Lam in Dong Nai Province

Is that Church Famous?

My wife said she didn't know and just smiled

Where do his parents live?

Pearland, Texas

Where do his siblings live?

All over the states spread out.

Do you have pictures?

She then started to give him all of our pictures but only skimmed through a few of them.

Is your husband here?

She nodded her head and pointed outside.

The translator said the CO has agreed to grant you the visa. (This is where she did a 180 degrees and totally becomes nice) Please come back June 4th at 3pm to pick up your visa. Be sure to bring the pink sheet and your ID car with you.

Mean while outside while I was waiting I met ERIKandChinh (Sorry Erik I didn't realize it at the time because of all the stress and the joy that it was you until I thought about it on the taxi ride to lunch. I remember you starting a post that you interviewed on the 28th also and you said visa journey while we were talking outside.) Man what a coincidence he's from Houston also. Anyways while waiting outside I met him and this other nice woman that was waiting nervously for her husband or fiancee to come out. She was sort of a wreck waiting for him. Well when my wife went out looking all joyous, Erik quickly shook my hand and congratulated me. My wife got her phone crossed the street and was so excited. She was so tired since we were up at 5am to go to the consulate, we went ahead and left the consulate to go eat. After that we went home. Right now I am at work doing little things that needs to get done and my wife is at home probably sleeping.

Man I hope Erik and Chinh got their pink paper, he seems like a stand up guy.

Erik if you see this Hopefully you got some good news to share with us too. We should meet up in Houston sometime grab a bite or something and talk about this joyous occasion. Sorry I left so fast.. The whole ordeal was overwhelming.

Sorry if my grammar is off. I am typing this as quickly as I can while I am at work. Trying to finish up loose ends before I return back to Texas with my wife.

Congrats again Dai and thanks for the info. I will pass this on to my wife so she has an idea of what kinds of things they ask. Do you think the person that helped you to organize for interview made a difference? We have a lawyer but am wondering. Do you have any idea how much a ticket back to the U.S. is? It sounds like you just hung out accross the street the whole time, thats probably what I will do. You guys Take Care!

I think the person that helped us organize our paperwork would have been more helpful if we didn't get lucky and get the nice CO that passed us. My wife said she saw other CO that were caucasian and were very difficult and hard with their questions. My wife told me that there was a girl standing and interviewing with a CO for more than 1 hour! My wife's interview only took like 10-15 mins. I am looking at American Airlines right now since I have miles with them I am upgrading to business class for me and my wife. The ticket price I looked up for regular economy one way was $790.00 or close to that. Yes I did basicly hang out across the street the whole 4 hours. I drank a cup of coffee in the cafe near there for like 5-10 mins and then I walked to the Notre Dame Catholic Church for a little bit and prayed in front of Mother Mary and as you can see she answered my prayers.

I hope everyone has the luck I have. I don't want to start the PC stuff but I think maybe the Asian CO have a slightly better chance to give out pinks. Maybe because they know how it feels, to want to come to the US. Just a theory and I hope I am not out of line, saying it.
