My interview is scheduled for next week. What kind of questions can I expect at the interview? Should I bring proof of ties to Canada?

Mine too! I got conditionally approved today...i'm excited...

I hear that as long as you tell the truth and do not lie it's pretty easy...I think i may bring a letter of employment...along with the other documents they have asked for...

good luck!

At the "interview" they just confirm your info on the application, ask what you do for a living & if you want the Nexus card for business or pleasure.

I didn't bring any ties to Canada, but they questioned me quite a bit because I'm self-employed & need the card to visit my (then) boyfriend.

So, if you have them, it wouldn't hurt to bring ties or proof of employment.

I applied for a Nexus card 2 weeks ago and got conditionally approved on Tuesday. I'm still waiting to set up my interview because now I have to make a trip home solely to get this taken care of.

I just wanted my wait times to be less. I feel like I'm always waiting at the border so I might as well get it.

I think I will go down to Pearson and get it all done.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

Smart idea, the border line ups are killers! Each person in the car needs a NEXUS pass, so if you husband is travelling with you - he will need it also.

I applied for the Card a month before I filed the I-129F. I've had the Card now for a week and plan on giving it a test drive next weekend.

I've been making the trip (Seattle -><- Vancouver) since 2006 and the line ups add about an hour or sometimes two each way to my trip. It's been worse over the last year because of the upcoming Olympics and the constuction at the POE/Border.

Sometimes, I drive my Harley up in the summer/fall instead of truck and that's when it gets really ugly in lineup. It's about an hour or two of low speed "clutching" the motorcycle in 80-90 degree heat while most of the line up sits in air conditioned cars and kids look at me like "mommy, why is that man sweating so much"? :bonk:

I think this will take a lot of stress out of the trip for the rest of the year when she doesnt visit me here.

Oh Gawd, seriously? Is that just weekends or midweek also? I hear it's not as bad at the Pacific Highway crossing. I was just going to take my chances but maybe I should get a Nexus pass. grr

Last time I crossed at the Sarnia border(which was a while ago, so it may have changed)...Nexus had their own lane, as in from Canada to the US. There was a time when it was backed up right to Canada, but the "Nexus" lane that started in Canada was clear!

....now if they could do that with the Ambassador, lol

P.s...Ambassador isn't TOO bad. They've reconstruucted the US side & it opens up nicely once you get off the bridge.

So since you are a U.S. PR - is there any reason you have to go back to Canada to do the interview - or could you have done it in the U.S.?

I'm just thinking about getting a Nexus card for us and i'm wondering where the nearest interview center is - can't find a list on their website. From what I am reading we can do the interview in the U.S. - just wondering if they have them in Orlando.

I really love my Nexus card. I got it before we even decided to get married, so I don't know what your application will be like. I've used it at Several different borders, but there never seems to be a lineup when I go through

One of these days I will hit a really big lineup, and then it will be my time to shine!!!!! :star:

I'm extremely nervous now when I go through, about mentioning my American Husband, but everyone saying that they bring their "Ties to Canada" is making me feel a lot better.

I believe that you can only interview where the Nexus card is used most frequently aka near the Canadian border. I know that my daughter's boyfriend has one and he came up from San Diego to Vancouver for the interview.

No, no I havent been going up every weekend, I'd be broke by now if I did that.

I usually went monthly or bi-monthly depending on our work schedules etc. Last year she applied and received a 10 year US Vistors Visa so that enabled her to make the trip here to Seattle some of the time. I just never look forward to the line ups and as I mentioned with the upcoming Olympics and the construction going on now at the POE, it is best option for me.

Wow that's crazy. Well I guess I will email them and ask where they do the interviews here. Thanks for the info.

Here's what I found on that...

"The NEXUS program allows pre-screened, low risk travelers to be processed with little or no delay by United States and Canadian officials at designated highway lanes at high volume border crossing locations, at a NEXUS kiosk at the Canadian Preclearance airports, and at certain marine reporting locations in the Great Lakes and Seattle, Washington regions"

No, I meant were the lineups only on the weekends..... or were there lineups during the weekdays, also. In other words.... is your experience of the long lineups from visiting on a weekend or did you visit midweek and experience a long lineup then, also. Not asking how often you visit. Is this making sense?:unsure:
