Oh ok, well I was just going to say Casselberry seems very nice - we are/were shopping for houses and that is another place we were looking, quite handy to Orlando for work, if you end up working there. We have stopped looking for houses here at the moment, thinking of maybe moving states, haven't decided (I find Florida in the summer to be TOO hot).

If you two are thinking of buying a house though, this is the place to be, lots of houses under 100k

Yeah, it's just close enough to the city that it'll give me the flexibility of working there without a huuuuge commute (still longer than I'm used to, but that's city life, I suppose).

But the housing market is definitely nice for buyers there at the moment. We've been looking a bit, but I told him I didn't want to get too far ahead of ourselves and fall in love with any particular house yet, as I'd like to wait until I can help out with the bills before we consider moving. We aren't under any pressure but what we put on ourselves, as his mother and family are quite accommodating with our situation, and won't be pushing us out the door too soon, thankfully. :)

lots of houses under 100k

:o ]

I'm living in the wrong state!!!!

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

I'm living in the wrong state!!!!

Tell me about it. I have a friend from high school whose current wife bought a house in Utah.... while working as an Asst. Manager at a McDonalds.

Everything around where I live is 700k+

Well, it's the price you pay to live near any sort of metropolitan area.

What constitutes living near a metro area though? I'm now 1.5 hrs away from NYC and 3 hours from Philly but my taxes and housing prices are still sky high.

You might want to consider buying this year though as there is up to an $8000 rebate if you buy a house by November 30th ($1000 for every 10k you pay for your house - to a maximum of 8k)

Yes treble, there are some nice places here for reasonable amounts

This one is Lake Mary (can pretty much assume this one has a HOA):

Then an apartment in Casselberry, where Sam and Ben will be moving to and a house there as well.

But it's all generally one big metropolitan area. Where I live, it's becoming less and less seen as Los Angeles Metropolitan Area, and more just Southern California. In my definition, a Metropolitan area would end where there was a definitive break in land development.

Oh I didn't know that they had changed it, or are about to, for the downpayment - hey that's nice! Found this about FHA loans, not sure about other types of loans.

HUD Secretary: FHA Borrowers Soon Can Use $8,000 Tax Credit at Closing

In a significant boost to the housing market, HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan announced yesterday that first-time buyers using FHA loans would soon be allowed to monetize” the $8,000 federal first-time buyer tax credit and use the funds for their downpayment
