Well, my husband and I just celebrated a most enjoyable 'early' Canada Day at the Atlanta Zoo hosted by the Canadian Consulate in Atlanta. What made it extra nice is we got to spend it with Karen and Joel (Fuzzness) and Karen's daugher Anna - a lovely and lively 7 year old! We 'did' the zoo together, enjoyed hamburgers and hotdogs with about 150 other Canadian guests, and made sure to visit the elephants, the Giant Pandas, the zebras, the giraffes, the lions and tigers (all of which were more involved with sleeping in the shade away from public view), the gorillas, the lemurs, the kangaroos - and yes - even the reptile house! Karen does NOT like snakes and was very brave - although she was looking at most of the snake exhibits with her eyes closed:-). A final visit to the petting zoo and the curious goats, then we each went our separate ways - we to the south and they to the north. It was just great to meet them all - Karen and Joel are wonderful, easy-going, friendly and interesting people - and they already look like a married couple even though their wedding is a week tomorrow. THey make a great, happy and loving family and it is obvious that Anna just adores Joel:-). Thanks again, Karen and Joel - and good luck with all of the upcoming preparations this week!

I wish they had some kind of Canada Day celebration here in Washington..... I'll be in Canada for Canada Day anyways, but it would be nice to have an early celebration courtesy of the Canadian Consulate here in Seattle!!!! (Is there even one????)

We had a marvelous time, despite the heat! We all had a great time and meeting Joe and Kathryn was such a treat. We'll definately make plans to meet up again. Maybe next time some of the other "southern canadians" can meet up with us too! :D
