Well, it is perfect Victoria Day weather here today - highs in the mid 60s and lows in the mid 40s - except I'm in the Atlanta, Georgia area - hehehe, and it is cool for us!

Happy Victoria Day, everyone! (rats- no fireworks icon!)

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Yes! Happy vicky day every one! Miss my May 2-4 celebrations but am thinking about them in past years nonetheless!

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

To my Northern friends and neighbours... HAPPY V DAY!

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Wasaga Beach - love it!

When I was little I lived just outside of Montreal in a subdivision community called Hillcrest Gardens. All of the residents would get together and chip in money to buy fireworks for Victoria Day. Then everyone would gather in the evening in a big open field at the end of the subdivision to watch the fireworks. I always remember how lovely it was in the field - it was surrounded by crabapple trees and they were all in bloom. The fragrance was heavenly and then it was all capped by the terrific fireworks enjoyed by friends and families. What a great memory.

Man, I remember some COLD 2-4s where I'd be in a sweater or a jacket all weekend...Wasaga or Grand Bend trips were the best. Makes me a little nostalgic

I just celebrated my last Victoria day weekend last night! It involved a giant bonfire with marshmallows and shooting off fireworks in a residential neighborhood (not my idea!) They almost caught a tree on fire twice...

We had a good time despite the fact it was like 7C outside. I feel bad for the people who decided to go camping! It was freezing.

Somehow I thought this wasn't celebrated in Quebec.... that they celebrate St. Jean Baptiste instead, while the other 9 provinces celebrate Victoria Day.....

I was born on Victoria day back in 1974...

Happy Birthday Marilyn
