Whichever you and your families prefer. Many people think it is more important to get married where the female is from, as the bride tends to need more support and will be doing most of the organising. Others get married in the foreign country because it tends to be easier for US guests to travel abroad than for foreign guests to get tourist visas to get to a wedding in the US. Others prefer to get married in the USA, especially if few visits have been possible so far, because it gives the foreigner 90 days to experience the USA and living with their USC fiance to make sure they are doing the right thing in marrying.

It is nice to be married in your home country where your family can be included. Just be sure to file the correct application! K1 visa if you decide to wed in the US, K3 visa if you marry in your home country. If you have already filed a K1, do not marry in your home country, the embassy will find out and your K1 will be rejected. Good luck for which ever visa type you decide.

If your papers get sent back to the USCIS heaven forbids by the consulate, it would be better that it was sent back on a K1 visa. Then you could always reapply for the CR1/K3 visa after you get married. But like everyone else said the choice is yours.
