You have two ways to go. You can apply at the Philippine Embassy for a tourist visa that lasts the duration of your trip. Or you can go on a 21-day visa and renew. I would caution though that on entry if they look closely at your return ticket, you *could* run a risk that they notice your return is for >21 days and this could cause problems...

If you have the time, I would check into the visa, or book a flight returning in 21 days that you can change.

Hi mari joe...

I don't know the answer to your question, but I saw a discussion about it on another web site. The website is: livingincebu.com.

If I remember right, you can renew your visa in the Philippines.

The correct path if your ticket is longer than 21 days is to get a visa in advance. Rarely do tickets get checked but mine has been.

They checked mine too...for those time I went there....

But you can work around that problem, by buying a slighter expensive ticket where you able to change RETURN date and should only cost something like $100 or just a little more as penalty...depending the airline...after you enter.

so please check with the AIRLINE first ...to find out how much it will cost you to change the return date....at a later moment.

But DON'T FORGET...You still have to go and EXTEND your VISA while you there....

You can renew your visa at least 3 days before the 21 days expires, they will give you another 59 days, depends on the remaining days... and you can just visit some tour agencies to save time and money and the visa cost 4,000 pesos...at least that's what we did when hubby was here...

Goodluck..

"Our Wedding Prayer"

Lord, help us to remember when we first met,and the strong love that grew between us.

To work the love into practical things so nothing can divide us

Grant us a Love that grows stronger with each passing year.

We ask for words both kind and loving

and for hearts always ready to ask forgiveness as well as to forgive.

Guide us to overcome every challenge

and keep our dreams pure to each other always.

Dear Lord,we put our marriage into Your hands.Amen

If your heart acquires strength, you will be able to remove blemishes from others without thinking evil of them.

I went to a local Philippine Bureau of Immigration near where I was staying in PI after being there 18 days. Paid "about" P2500 for a 59 day extension.

ok i understand that i can get an extension after i arrive but do i need to book a flight at 21 days then change it after i am there to 30 days? immigration always asks "how long is your stay?". did anyone here book their flight for longer than 21 days without a visa waiver?

I wouldn't do it that way. I booked my flight for a full month and had no problems. While I was in the PI I decided to extend my stay and it cost 400.00 dollars to change my flight but I didn't even think about renewing my visa so when I finally did get ready to leave and was at Manila International getting my boarding pass they checked my passport and saw that I had stayed past 21 days. they just sent me to immigration bureau office or window rather and I just paid them 2000 pesos. They stamped my passport and sent me on my way no problem but buying a ticket for a 21 day stay and then extending it once you get there when you already know you are goig to stay longer is a waste of money. Like I said it cost me 400 dollars to change my flight. Have a great trip. Mike

hello, as far as I know , you can stay beyond 21 days , but you will pay tax at the airport, that is aside from the travel tax they will collect before you leave , it happenend to my hubby , when he was here december 07 when we first met , he asked the official what the payment for , he said for staying over 21 days , he didnt know , he just told me about it when he got home, the second time he came he didnt tell me if he paid the same maybe ; but be sure to register your presence here to the US Embassy upon your arrival ;
