Hello my journey partners.

I have this question that have me and my fiancee stumped. I know this might be like trying to cross the bridge before getting to the river but.... Does any document that she might be required to send to the embassy (i.e. police report) have to be translated to english? Or can they be in romanian? Or maybe both?

Your answers are very much appreciated.

PEACE.......

When you love someone from the bottom of your heart; so much that you are willing to give your life for your loved one, time and distance takes a backseat. Only love prevails. And with love in you hearts you can overcome anything.

Did you check your local consulate's website on specific info about that?

Usually consulates accept documents in either English or whatever the local language is.

I did not translate my police certificate.

But I would check with them (if nobody else who dealed with that specific consulate comes along here).

I say both. Better be safe than sorry. Whenever you provide a document in a language other than English, make a translation into English of that document and send in both: the copy of the document in the original language and the translation. USCIS is not requiring (generally, but exceptions might come) that the translation be an "official" one, meaning, made by an authorized translator (in Romania, these translators are authorized by the Ministry of Justice and generally available at any notarial office, and the fees are not negligible). You can simply make this translation yourself/your wife/a fiend of yours and accompany it with a statement initiated by the person translating, that the translation is a truthful representation of the original text.

3/8/2009: LUD on all applications. Shows approval of I131 and I765, still pending on I130, I485.

04/28/2009 at 9:30 AM: Interview. Told to wait 90 days for a resolution by mail.

05/01/2009: Card production ordered.

05/06/2009: Received approval NOAs for I130 and I485 (welcome notice, 10 years card). I130 still shows case received and pending.
