My fiance went to Cuba

Hi VJers,

My fiance went on a trip to Cuba last year as a chaperone at the high school where he teaches. However, it being Cuba and all, there is no stamp in his passport and we don't know if there will be a record of it on the letter of entries and exits from the country (which we are really hoping is delivered to us tomorrow). Maybe that will answer the question of how to answer question 9 on the DS 157 "all the countries you have visited in the last 10 years". If Cuba doesn't show up anywhere, do we just not list it, and lie by omission, and assume we won't be asked? Or do we list it and then the embassy asks us why it is not in his passport or on his letter of exits from the country??

Please help!

Thanks!

List all where he has been just because no stamp does not mean it will not be in a computer when they check if they do...if u leave it out and they do find out you wont like it probably...

Horse manure. Answer truthfully because its the truth. Don't be playing games with what there may or may not be a record of. Just tell the truth. Visiting Cuba is a non-issue but lying is huge one.

Ok guys, thanks! It was certainly not that we wanted to lie, it's just that we want all records and documents to reflect the same information. We are STILL waiting for the letter of exits--he got back from Buenos Aires on Tuesday, so we couldn't request it until then--so we don't know what it says about Cuba. With the interview Monday, nothing like having things down to the wire!!! :(

If he has been there, list it. There is no problem with the fact he went there.

Ok, but the only way they wouldn't reflect the same information is if you lied. Sometimes things are so simple. Just tell the truth.
