Renewal of Philippines Passport under marriage name

one thing i did notice, different consulates require different things....why?....i have no clue. but, below is the L.A. consulate forms & requirements.

I agree,they require different things in different consulates,doesn't sound logical to me at all. Somebody has to explain about this #######! Just make things confusing! Philippine Embassy in all different states here in the US is still Philippines Embassy and not a Singapore Embassy or something so why bother to make it all different??? Grrrrr

I plan to go back to the philippines for a vacation early next year. At the same time, while in the philippines, I plan to renew my passport. i want my passport to reflect my marriage name.

Do i have to report my marriage in the Philippines consulate here in the US.

OR

Just bring my US marriage certificate and renew my passport in the DFA (philippines).

File report of marriage first and then as soon as you get your copy, file for passport renewal here in the US you don't need to file for amendment of your name just file together with your report of marriage, processing time here in San Francisco 8 weeks i don't know in some other Consulate if how long, more cheaper to renew in the philippines but you need to file your report of marriage to the Consulate here in the US and then the Consulate will forward it to the DFA and it takes 4 to 6 months and then DFA will transmitt to NSO and then you can get your copy from NSO for your renewal of passport with married name, i tried to renew my passport in Phils. but we forgot to file our report of marriage here so i renewed my passport when i got here in US.

My wife got her passport amended at the embassy in DC and has had nothing but trouble with it. Even Philippine Immigration gives her dirty looks when we go back to Manila for visits. She was almost denied boarding on a flight from Denver to Vancouver because the airline personnel said her boarding pass had to match the name on the ID page of the passport regardless of what the handwritten amendment said )we had to get a supervisor involved for her to fly. The Italian embassy insisted on issuing her a visa in her maiden name because they would not accept the amendment either.

So, save yourself the trouble and get a new passport once you've reported the marriage. Don't bother with the amendment.

The report of marriage application Forms should be notarized too before you mail it to the Philippine Consulate in LA so don't forget about it.I Filed also last year (Report of marriage and amendment of passport) luckily, I made it before june last year coz now they require all passport applicants to appear in person at the Consulate for data verification, finger-printing and signature capture this is for the new MRP or Machine Readable Passport.It's like going to a USCIS application support center for the biometrics.I visit the website they have an outreach program here in AZ on July 18 Saturday so that is a good news to all the applicants here in AZ but you need to set up an appointment in advance for this not later than july 14, 2009 either by Fax (213)639-0990 or E-mail, consular.outreach.az@gmail.com and for the passport, if you will go to this outreach program you need to send an ADVANCE copies of your application forms and the Data page of your passport (showing the name and photo) to the Consulate either Fax or E-mail as well.Good luck.

Can you really skip the "Amendment" part? Seems like the embassy sites would mention that, or are they just trying to suck as much money outta you as they can?

My wife needs to renew her passport, and change her name on it. What all do you have to do to "Report Marriage"? I know you fill out a form, but do you need to bring anything for just that process? Are we supposed to wait for some confirmation from the "Report Marriage" before we proceed with the "renewal", or can we do it all in one trip.

If you don't mind, could you explain to me step by step what I should do and what to expect? Like someone said earlier, the requirements seem to vary from one embassy to another. Like you, I also have to go to the Washington DC embassy, and I can't find ANY requirements on their site. I must admit I'm already not very fond of this embassy. I've been trying for days to get through, but NO ONE ANSWERS THE PHONE in the documents section, nor do they have voice mail. It just rings, or a voice message comes on saying that the party at that extension has not subscribed to voice mail, and then it hangs up. Terrible service. Finally, I just kept hitting different button till I got a live person in agriculture to answer my passport questions, LOL. Now I have even more questions.

Two more quick questions. My wifes green card has expired, but when we went to apply for the 10 year card, they gave her a 1 year extension. Will that affect anything with this passport process, or do they just want your green card as a form of identification? As for my second question, is changing the name on a passport really necessary? I mean if the only reason for doing it is so her name will match the name on the plane ticket, couldn't I just buy the ticket under her maiden name?

Sorry for all the questions. I'm just stressing over this because we leave for Washington on the 25th of this month and I feel unprepared. I just don't want to make the trip only to be turn down because of some minute detail.

A green card isn't required to file report of marriage and get passport amended or renewed. My wife and I reported the marriage before we filed for AOS.

If your wife doesn't change the name on her passport and you book the ticket in the maiden name, then she'll have problems when you come back to the US because the name on her green card won't match the one on her passport.

I feel like an idiot LOL . I didn't realize the instructions and requirements were part of the application documents which you download. I already had some of them downloaded the whole time too.

i called the Chicago consulate yesterday w/ the same question. we are going to do my wifes at the end of this month. they said 'yes, you can do it all in one visit. and you can use one money order w/ the total cost of all services'..report of marriage, new pasport application (my wife's is expired), and the mailing to your house after Manila sends the passport back to consulate.

i would still call & ask the consulate that services your state & ask them. these consulates all seem to have different requirements.
