Ever went to her exam Monday and shots Tuesday. Tuesday they told her the xray showed a spot and that she had to return for the next 3 consectutive days (Wed - Fri) for sputum examintation. SHE WILL NOW MISS HER 5-11-09 and we don't know what they will say as a result of this exam. I do not understand this as it seems to be a very subjective exam to me. Please send your prayers our way.

Thanks,

Eric

Its a test to determine if a person has pulmanary tuberculosis. PTB is common in the Phils and most anyone with scars on their lungs is subjected to the sputum test. SLEC will grow cultures for 8 weeks and test.

You can do a VJ search on Sputum test as it is a common issue.

slec will do the 3 day sputum tests on a person who shows any abnormality in her lungs. then you will have to wait 2 months for the culture results to come out. slec will take care of postponing the interview date with the us embassy.

Hi... Is it spot or scar? If it's scar, and she never have pneumonia or severe pulmonary infection, then you will be fine. i went through it too, and it sucks! But then I made some research too, the scar in lungs esp to the Filipinos are common because of environment here.

Anyway, you guys be strong. You will be fine!

Yeah, I understand, I was in that situation before. Just have the sputum, on pulmonary evaluation, they will explain it to her. Scar is different from spot... when I check my x-ray, it looks like an excess tissue on the lungs (similar to keloids in the skin). But if it spot... it looks like dark smudge spot... it might be more than one...

st lukes will let you do the sputum tests once they see something on your xray. no they will not allow you to repeat the xray nor will they accept results from other hospitals. their reason? this is always their standard reply : " it is the US embassy's policy".

On Naty's exam it was a "white spot" Your SO will go back for 3 days and do the Sputum Tests. Even though Naty was negative all 3 days, we were delayed 2 months while the cultures developed with a call back date. Sorry to tell you that. St Luke's will simply re-schedule her interview date.
