I got a response to my service request on Saturday - they basically just sent me a copy of my biometrics notice, saying that my case would be considered abandoned if I don't show.

And then I got home from work just now to yet ANOTHER envelope from USCIS - this one a biometrics cancellation notice. Sigh. Looks like (from my quick scanning of this and the AOS forum) that appointments (all of them?) on July 7, 8 and 9 are being cancelled.

Anyone else got one of these cancellation notices? Hopefully it won't take 'em too long to schedule a new appointment... blah.

2005 - We met

2006 - Filed I-129F

2007 - K-1 issued, moved to US, completed AOS (a busy year, immigration-wise)

2009 - Conditions lifted

2010 - Will be naturalising. Buh-bye, USCIS! smile.png

I received the same cancellation notice today. I'm glad I did a walk-in on Saturday (my actual appointment would have been on July 9th). Maybe you could try to do a walk-in as well?!

I've been thinking of trying! :) My local ASC doesn't open at weekends, annoyingly enough, so it'd mean taking time off work (well, going in late/leaving early) and keeping my fingers crossed. I'm tempted to give it a shot, though!

Hey Silke,

Are you 100% sure that your walk-in and now the cancellation of your original biometrics is not going to mess up all your Biometrics process? I mean... now you should receive another biometrics appointment letter and maybe they will cancel you original appointment in the system or something like that.

For that reason I am not going to do the early walk-in. I know thay MAYBE could speed up the process a little bit but this is the USCIS... and I don't want to take the risk of any bigger delay or problem. I am going to be patient with that and wait until the original appointment date. I hope to receive the appointment soon and I hope will be one with no cancellation or delays.

In any case good luck and let us know any news in your case.

The language regarding children is arbitrary. But it has been this way for hundreds of thousands of people walking in our shoes. Hence, I wouldn't go gaga over this point. It's paramount that you don't forget to list any children that need to be considered in regard to residence, however.

In my case, my wife has a 19 year-old daughter who lives with us. As a USC, I didn't list her. I have a married, 28 year-old daughter living in Europe. I didn't list her either.

Edited by Just Bob

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

Hi everyone. I'm just stopping in to say 'hello' and to report zero activity, lol. It's funny, though I really don't expect to see even a touch until late August/early September (working on the 4-5 month VSC processing hope) it does not stop me from checking online every damn day. I think I must just be a creature of habit ... and perhaps a bit of a masochist :) .

Sorry to hear that some of you are going through biometrics woes. But I agree with a recent poster - just do a walk-in. I think waiting for another month for a date would be torture.

Before you edit this list, please make sure that your VJ Text Editor setting is set

to Rich Text Editor. DO NOT JUST COPY AND PASTE. You can change your Text

Editor as follows:

1. Click on My Controls at the top of the page.

2. Click on Board settings at the lower left of the page.

3. In the drop down box under Posting Settings, change the type of editor

from Standard to Rich Text.

4. Save this change by clicking on the "Change my Account Options" button.

Then go to the most recently posted version of this list (go to the last post and

scroll UP) and "Reply" to it, deleting the "quote" tags at the beginning AND END of

your reply.

* Please DO NOT change the font, font size, add colors, stuff like that.

* Please PREVIEW before posting to make sure it is properly formatted. (A common

mistake is somehow screwing up so you have <b> and </b> HTML tags in these very

instructions instead of actual boldfaced text.)

REMEMBER: "Date of I-751" is the date you sent your petition - NOT the date it

arrived at the service center. "NOA1 Date" is the 'Notice Date' shown on the NOA1 —

NOT the date you received it.

Biometrics on Friday -- we haven't received any notices about cancellation, so we're just going to show up and hope for the best.

BTW, I am MOST unhappy I got chopped off the new May CSC filers thread. I am one of you at heart -- it just took me too long to photocopy everything. I don't want to get disqualified on a technicality! And I don't know the June filers... I, well, I feel abandoned.
