what if:

given a CR1 visa -- POE after 2nd wedding anniversary -- lets say given a 10 yr. green card

when can u apply for Naturalization?

IR-5 for dad

02/16/12 - mailed I-130

02/27/12 - NOA1 petition received(hubby's birthday!)

06/06/12 - NOA2 stating I-130 approved

06/29/12 - NVC received case

07/09/12 - case entered in the system,assigned MNL # and IIN,email add given

07/12/12 - beneficiary emailed DS-3032, auto response received

07/18/12 - AOS fee bill/paid "IN PROCESS"

07/20/12 - AOS fee bill shows "PAID", mailed AOS package

07/25/12 - received AOS

07/25/12 - IV Fee Bill Invoiced, paid $230.00 "IN PROCESS"

07/26/12 - IV Fee bill shows "PAID"

07/28/12 - mailed IV Package

08/03/12 - received DS 230 packet

08/14/12 - sent RFE

08/16/12 - NVC received RFE

08/21/12 - log in failed

08/22/12 - case complete!

09/26-27/12 - medical at SLMC

10/04/12 - interview

12/01/12 - Left Philippines

I believe it's that when you arrive on IR1 it's 3 years as a permanent resident you can apply for naturalization.

Likewise, if you remove conditions from CR1, then it's 3 years as a permanent resident until you apply for naturalization.

Here is the brochure from USCIS which details the speed at which one can naturalize. http://www.uscis.gov/files/article/M-476.pdf

It is much faster if applying for naturalization as a military spouse.

NVC Left : Received email March 3rd

Medical Completed : March 12, 2009

Interview Date : April 22, 2009. 8 am. VISA APPROVED!!!

Visa in Hand : April 27th, 2008!!! Arrival May 11th! POE JFK

Processing Estimates/Stats : Your I-130 was approved in 101 days from your NOA1 date. NVC completed in 26 days! Interview was 201 days from Noa 1.

It's after 3 years of being a resident. So after 2 years you can remove conditions to a 10 year green card and a year after that, you can apply for naturalization.

as long as u r married to USC so u can apply for citizenship after 3 years of entering the states

5 years of your entry to the states if u any other immigrant type (diversity , worker ,etc )

If granted a green card by being the spouse of a US citizen, then 3 years after you entered (either on CR-1 or IR-1) you can naturalize.

Tha magic number here is 3...3 is the number of years you must be a resident (based on marriage) before you can naturalize.

No, doesn't matter if you have got conditional (2 year) or unconditional (10 year) GC, you can apply after 3 years of staying in US from the date of your first POE using CR-1 or IR-1 visa. Also you have to be married to the SAME spouse while applying for citizenship to get the benefit of 3 year. If for some reason USC spouse dies or one get divorced then one will have to wait for 5 years.

I am not sure about military spouses, but do know if someone is working for military they can apply after 1 year of work experience with the military.
