It really is amazing. And yeah, trailmix, I totally understand what you mean by you can't wrap your head around someone else's thoughts or actions at times. T

I guess if Jared did something like that I wouldn't believe it either.

We really never know someone entirely, do we?

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

After have completing a psych rotation as part of my schooling, anything is believable!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

I took several deviant behavior courses in university. The one thing that I remember were the case studies. None of them were mass murderers, but they were people who went to great lengths to disguise their behavior. It's amazing the great efforts some people will go to to hide the fact that they enjoy something like midget S&M porn from their wives. Imagine how far some peole will go for a blood lust.

I used to work with a guy who used to work with Bernardo, when he was raping women in the Scarborough area. When the composite sketch was first published on all the Toronto news papers, everyone where he worked said "hey, that looks just like Paul!" but no one called him in. Not a single soul. And then they all felt like ###### when he ended up raping 18 (or more) women and then murdering 3 teen agers.

I don't think anyone would like to think that their spouse or friend or co-worker would be capable of murder, but honestly, I think everyone is capable. It's just most of us would never act upon it because we understand the boundries. Some people just don't understand, (mental disconnect that they don't understand right & wrong, which are few I think) or they just don't care (total psychopath). Like Bernardo and Homolka and this guy.

And then there's Dexter.

Let us not forget he is innocent until proven guilty. It is possible the guy is innocent, and the police have made a mistake. The press is quite to try and hang the guy without due diligence.

I just always think about the Atlanta city bombings at the Olympics. The police, FBI, and news media were in such a rush to find someone they went after Richard Jewell. It was the wrong person, it totally ruined his life.

Maybe so. But I was more or less posing a question based upon the fact that he is guilty, regardless of whether we know it or not at this point. I was interested to know what people think about the possibilities of deceiving others in high profile crimes. It's interesting to me.

Reba, you have a great point about capability and boundaries. I often wonder how many of us have secrets though between our significant others and us. I'd like to think I know Jared. I don't keep tabs on him but we share the same computer, we both have access to the same accounts...there is 100% openness there.

I think many a times when there isn't an openness, there is room for crazy stuff to happen, whether it's lethal or not.

This one guy that called into the Suze Orman show, for example, had just found out his wife had rung up $40,000 worth of credit card debt in one year without him noticing. How could you NOT know that you were 40 grand in the hole if you had been paying attention to your money. And he's the one that worked, too! In my mind, while she went to great lengths to obviously deceive him, he was also just plain dumb. (imho)

sharing the computer isn't 100% openness. A friend and her husband (still married) shared the same computer and she thought all was fine, then 1 day, she turned on the computer, only to find he hadn't closed down a page, and found a letter from his "friend" I think many have secrets, and not always in a bad way either.

I have wondered if society is getting crazier or has it always been like this, or are we just more aware of it due to increased methods of communication?

I think it's okay to have secrets, as long as they aren't going to hurt your relationship. I do like to have some thoughts to myself. I guess my point was more or less that I do beleive some people have 100% openness in their relationship which leads them to success.

I think society has always been like this. My mum always makes comments about how crazy the world is today...but I tell her it was just as crazy when she was a kid, it just wasn't shoved in her face all day long.

It's easy to sit there and think you have it all together and look at other couples who are in weird situations and call the one who had no clue stupid. But it could happen to you, it could happen to me and it could happen to anyone. We like to think we're smart, we like to think we'd know.

You wouldn't start looking at any possible warning signs until after the fact and then you have your series of "Oh ya" moments, unless you are in complete denial. I mean he could have said he had a late class, or maybe he just went out. She didn't think a single thing about it because she loved him and she trusted him.

What disturbs me more is someone who can take the life of another human and then just go on with theirs like nothing happened. That disgusts me. :(

So true, the world was just as messed up back then but there wasn't the internet and other media forms 24/7 telling us all of these horrible stories

I'm not judging any one and yes I do agree it's easy to sit here and say "wow that person was stupid". However, I can honestly say that my husband couldn't spend $40,000.00 of my money (or the bank's) without me knowing about it. In that situation, it's complete ignorance. The guy never looked at his credit card statements or inquired about anything. This woman was using it to shop and I'm pretty sure she didn't have a warehouse where she kept all of her stuff so she was definitely bringing lots of stuff home. I'm just say there are certain situations where we can all sit back and agree that someone was neglecting to notice what was right in front of them.

In the cases where people turn out to be serial killers and their significant others don't notice any signs, I guess it is completely possible to never know. Again, it's always amazing to me to realize we never truly know any one.
