Hi everyone :star:

While we are very happy to receive our Packet 4 (with forms and interview schedule- Thank God!) we find it strange that this has been mailed from USEM-Abu Dhabi, UAE to my SO (petitioner) to CA,US- is this the procedure? Now, he has to send this packet 4 to me here in Dubai, UAE.

We also didn't receive the so called "packet 3". Is that ok? ........ i am going to call USEM here in my place of residence this week but we want to hear from you first hand if anyone has been in the same situation and/or if there'll be no problem if i just wait the interview schedule and walk-in on that day (without submitting first the packet 3 since they didn't send me anyway)

thank you all

That's very strange how they never sent you a packet 3 let alone a packet 4 was sent to the petitioner

Packet 3 is to be sent to the beneficiary which consists of forms to be filled in, documents to be gathered by yourself, medical examination instructions, police certificate instructions, etc. Once you have completed these documents and have obtained the required documents you then send this packet 3 back to the US embassy in which they will issue you with a packet 4. This consists of a few other items that you need to complete and also includes that interview date...at least this is how the majority of folks here have experienced. Just double check when you call the embassy..all the best!

ooh wait.. didn't we just got packet 3 and 4 together in one envelop/mail? because the packet 3 contents you mentioned above (docs to gather, medical information, police certificate) are what we have received, but it also contains our interview appointment date already (which should be in the packet 4 information)...

so is this a possible packet 3 and 4? .......yikes!! confuse.... but happy thou :) There is no instructions to send back anything but prepare for the interview with all the requirements. (forms/bc/affidavit of suuport/evidences/medical/fees).

anyway, thank you MzMo1102!! best of luck to you too

Check the website for your consulate. Some of them are no longer requiring you to submit documents prior to the interview. You just bring everything with you then. Hope that helps. :) Good luck with your interview!

......hmm... thats a relief to hear that some consulate no longer require to submit documents ahead of the interview schedule. The USEM-UAE website doesn't have much information there for K1 visas. Anyway i shall contact them soonest i get the whole packet 4...yikes still a puzzle why they sent it to the petitioner instead of the beneficiary.

thank you menina :star:

In such an instance, the beneficiary can go to the consulate's website, download the forms directly, and complete them. In our own case, the consulate sent my fiancee outdated forms that arrived very late in the process; I had to go on the consulate's website to download the correct ones, then compare the versions side-by-side... and there were fundamental differences. This will be part of my eventual "after-visa complaint" to the Department of State.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

In packet 3.5 i was suppose to get police certificate instructions but i didnt,i m wondering what those instructions are.I have already received the police clearance certificate from a local police station.Hope what i have is what they want. And yes it is weird that u didnt get packet 3.5 cuz its the core requirement for the k-1 visa process.

i just read this..... anyhow...no worries , i emailed USEM AD and they responded that nothing to be mailed to them rather all forms from my packet 4 are to be taken on the interview date. Based on the previous AD filers, this is their unique procedure, mailing the combo packet 3 and 4 to the petitioner. all ok now for me.

we have the police instructions and also lists of unobtainable police certificates from certain countries.... as long as u lived in another country for at least 6 mos +, u ought to request for police certificate except if this country happens to be in their list of "unobtainable". hope u got the police instructions now. goodluck to you
