For Arabic Lessons I am still on my alphabet and numbers. I am on the same wave length S and S that my real motivation will come once I'm in Egypt. Right now I'm packing things and moving while in dead week and finals. I have to finish my take home finals before next week and my motivation is finished because my heart and mind already left for Egypt planning the wedding celebration and seeing Hubby, but if I think too much about it I get nervous and excited.

I can imagine you are getting excited to go. I hope you keep us updated on how things are going.

Wow that's a great list!

I'm going to be lazy and c/p something that I already gave to Olivia, but it might help others. The first site is mentioned on the list that S and S gave :

Hey I meant to leave these websites for you and forgot - I think they will help you alot, they've helped me tremendously. www. madinaharabic.com click on the Arabic reading course and start with lesson one on the alphabet - It not only shows you the script, but has where you can click and listen to someone saying it Then you can practice writing them and follow it through all the lessons. You should be fluent in no time :)

Another site that's great is called www.livemocha.com If you create an account there, you sign up and make your profile and state which languages you can speak and which languages you want to learn. They have some lessons there, but the best part is they will partner you with someone who speaks Arabic and wants to improve their English and you can help each other online.

I hope that helps you :)

I get that problem sometimes because my formal arabic is better than my Iraqi Arabic. Usually the highly educated arabs understand me, but not always with others. Then there is the different dialects even within a country and that you still have the American accent altering the word to a certain degree though we don't always hear it.

It takes practice and having your SO help makes a difference.

I decided I am going to learn French first bc alot of the Moroccan words have French origin. I think French will be much easier to learn and then continue with the Moroccan. I think the Moroccan language is one of the most beautiful
