For those that want to know it all...here is my exhaustive minute by minute review of my medical at Dr. Sedien's in Toronto this a.m.

Minute By Minute Review of Medical: Dr. Seiden – Toronto

5:00 a.m. Left Niagara Region

6:30 a.m. Arrived and parked at Sherbourne & Front one block east of the office - $9.00

6:35 a.m. Arrived at Dr. Seiden’s office, large vertical sign on the building, can’t miss it. Doors were locked, waited in alcove with one other person.

6:40 a.m. Staff arrived to unlock doors, one other person arrives.

Receptionist collected the first 2 pages of the interview letter and directed me to the waiting room.

6:50 a.m. Directed to office / examination room. Another staff member collected my passport, 3 photos & immunization records. Had me sign a consent form for the examination. Entered my information into the computer (address, telephone number) and had me fill in a form for the courier service.

Collected the fee ($275 – exam, $50 – courier) She returned the interview letter and gave me a receipt for the courier fee. Clipped my passport, the medical check list forms she printed out and name labels for the x-ray and blood work together. Handed me these papers and directed me down the hall to wait outside the x-ray room.

7:05 a.m. X-ray technologist arrived and took in the first client.

7:10 a.m. I am taken into the x-ray room, instructed to remove all clothing above the waist and place on a paper examination gown. Protective shield was placed around the abdominal area, I was positioned facing the wall and x-ray film, asked to breath in and hold my breath (less than 10 seconds)…done. I was instructed to remove the gown and fold it up to take with me. I was seated back outside the room to wait to make sure film was okay.

7:20 a.m. X-ray technologist acknowledged I was good to go, directed me to another seating area to wait for the medical. I was taken into the examination room immediately. Assistant /receptionist measured my height and weight and had me sign another consent form. She then indicated someone would be in to take my BP and pulse.

7:25 a.m. MD #1 enters, takes my blood pressure and pulse and instructs me to wait for the MD that would be doing the exam.

7:30 a.m. Assistant /receptionist popped into the room to instruct me to undress and put on the paper gown. She said if I was “unable for some reason” to remove my underwear I could leave them on, otherwise I was to remove everything. I undressed completely.

7:35 a.m. MD #2 (Dr. Malcolm) entered room. He did a very basic medical interview – any prescription medication, any history or treatment of high blood pressure, hospitalizations, HIV, syphilis, TB, mental illness, alcohol use, breathing problems (asthma or tobacco use).

He checked off boxes on the medical check list form as he was asking. Then he reviewed and recorded my vaccination documentation (I had the titre results and booster notification from my family MD). Physical examination consisted of the following:

He checked my ears, throat, palpated my neck and thyroid area, listened to my breathing (4 deep breaths on 4 areas on my upper back), asked me to lie down, and palpated my abdomen. There was no examination or even a look below the waist. There was no eye examination. He then told me an RN would be in to conduct the breast exam. She entered immediately after he left. She did a very quick visual under the gown and then did the actual examination from outside the gown. This took less than 2 minutes. Physical completed. Got dressed and was directed back to the original waiting room which was now standing room only.

7:45 a.m. Waiting for blood work

7:55 a.m. Called into small room for blood work, 2 vials taken. Was given a small piece of paper which checked off that I had completed the x-ray, MD check and blood work. I was instructed to hand this to the receptionist on the way out.

8:05 a.m. Receptionist confirmed I was having the results couriered to me.

All done and on my way back home.

The entire staff was very pleasant and efficient. I brought a magazine but

barely had time to read more than a few paragraphs between each stage. I would definitely recommend getting there early so you can be in and out in just over an hou

Good review!

My medical was interesting... I had Dr. Seiden and was felt up by a very attractive med student on her first day. I should write a review of that!

I posted in duplicate earlier and somehow both are now gone.:wacko: Here we go again.

For those that want all the details, this is my experience from this morning:

Minute By Minute Review of Medical: Dr. Seiden – Toronto

5:00 a.m. Left Niagara Region

6:30 a.m. Arrived and parked at Sherbourne & Front one block east of the office - $9.00

6:35 a.m. Arrived at Dr. Seiden’s office, large vertical sign on the building, can’t miss it. Doors were locked, waited in alcove with one other person.

Handed me these papers and directed me down the hall to wait outside the x-ray room.

Sorry Obx - I inadvertently made the whole topic invisible instead of just the duplicate thread - the problem is fixed now. I've merged the posts all into one again as well.

Wow!! Thanks for the detailed review! I feel much better knowing the process there. I'm always really apprehensive about uncomfortable situations where I don't really know what to expect.

Had medical this past Tuesday and just received results via Fed-Ex.

Hi OBX,

Thanks for posting this helpful info. Where can I find the exact list of vaccines I'll need to get done by my MD? The list on the FAQs on the Montreal consulate website for the interview prep section is more detailed then the one listed on the panel physicans website. What did you use as your guidline? Also, how long did it take for your interview letter to arrive? I haven't received it yet but my medical is set for June 3rd and my interview is June 17th. The AVR message said that the documents were sent to the consulate on Apr 29th.

Thanks in advance!
