I haven't read the Canuck clearinghouse thread - it's too long so I never could be bothered, although I may have glanced at it when I first joined VJ.

Does anyone else find it useful - for those of you that have more recently come in to the Canada forum, did you bother to look at it?

There is good stuff there, but it is outdated and wayyyy toooo longggggg to read through. Perhaps if there were about 3 or 4 threads that were pinned with the different topics and were kept up-to-date, maybe?? Hmmm... but I'm agreeing with you, TrailMix!

Really very few of the posts have any use after a week or two, as majority don't bother to use the search feature, lol

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

yep.. delete it.. a wiki page about customhouse is probably MUCH easier & useful.. and it's not just CDNS that can use that info.. wouldn't almost everyone here have use of the customhouse info?

Is the post ABOUT customhouse? I SO didn't read it

Ahh it's about dishcloths.. KEEP it I say...

Honestly.. never used it.. feel my life is still complete.. so my vote is with deleting it.. (I still think the customhouse wikki page is a good idea if there isn't one) :)

I've never looked at it and honestly... I don't even know what its about... What is it about anyways?

I believe it's a mish mash of Canada specific info.

Notice how no one is willing to read it to find out

Send 'er to oblivion. I skimmed and I don't think it ever had a point. Did it?

Better to pin a poutine recipe thread up there to take its place.

I found it useful when I first joined. It wasn't about customhouse at all. It was about all those things Canadian that we needed to know, phone numbers, things to do, who to call. Basically it's like the list thread we started about what to post to the Wiki page. Given that the Wiki page has been updated, and will continue to do so (I hope, and THANK YOU trailmix for that), then we should just delete the thread. I'm still amazed however that people are NOT reading Wiki. I'm wondering if there is a way we could obliterate the Clearninghouse Tread, and just post a link to the Wiki thread from the top of this page?
