Friends have told me that the Montreal Strip clubs are very fun!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Definitely go to Schwartz's Deli on Saint Laurent for lunch. It's a bit of a walk, but VERY worth it. It's a classic.

For dinner we went to St. Hubert's because it's was one of my fave restaurants as a kid and they no longer have any open in Ontario! It was really good!

Yes also for smoked meat Dunn's is classic, they have jukeboxes and such really good food if you're into that kind of food. If you go into old Montreal, there are tons of wonderful cafes with delicious food it's a great place to walk around and take in the sites.

I had fun of being treated like a royalty with top-notched services at La Queue de Cheval and it wasn't cheap. I spent about $181.00 on the food and drinks by myself, not counting the cuban cigar and after drinks in the Cigar Lounge.

Was it worth it? You bet! This is a world class steakhouse bar none.

Hrmm. Is it bad that I'm naturally fearful of Quebec and intend on leaving right after my interview? :P French intimidates me! I don't need food!

You should check out some of the restaurants that feature live DJs at night. On Crescent Street, one of my favorites is Weinstein and Gavino's. On St Laurent, check out Shed Cafe. Weinstein and Gavino's has Italian food and a fun bar and atmosphere - will also put you right in the middle of the English bar scene on Crescent. Shed Cafe has a more varied menu from steaks, to choose your own ingredient salads, pizzas, etc. Shed is more of a see and be seen sort of place imo, but I love the food. St Laurent has some good clubs and bars of its own and is just a short walk from the major French nightlife street, St Denis.

I have this idea of Quebec in my head and I can't shake it. I'm worried that everything is going to be in French and that people will refuse to speak English to me and give me dirty looks when I try to talk to them  I think i'm just being irrational! Honestly, I tried to learn French for like 5 yeas and It was just to hard! I'm not very good with language barriers, I tend to freak out (ever since my expeditions in Italy)

So you should say, so what if someone gives me a dirty look and so what if they don't speak English - doesn't matter!

and what is NOTL! ??

Don't worry! My husband (the USC and anglophone...) had the same fears and he had to admit that everybody has been nothing but nice too him (and his French is limited to "Bonjour", "Merci" and "Je ne parle pas français").

I'll come back and list some good restaurants for all of you...

That's a good attitude to have... In the end it doesn't really matter does it?

NOTL is niagara-on-the-lake! bearmirus profile says that's where he's from. Its a smallish town down here in Southern Ontario. Its really quaint and fancy looking like from the 1800's... There's all these small old fashioned shops and things like that.
