Embassy doesn't tell you about your NOA1.

USCIS does.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS

Embassy is DOS - your petition is at USCIS.

If you paid by check, you might be able to obtain your case/receipt number from the back of the canceled check - otherwise you could simply call or hang in there - it will come (I know a month seems like a long time - but it's on par for USCIS these days).

They won't be able to help you much without your case number.

Did they cash your check?

They haven't even cashed the check yet...

I was hoping for a notice that would say my package had been opened. I sent it with delivery confirmation, so I know it's there... sitting on someone's desk somewhere with a mulititude of others.

Unfortunately this is pretty common (late NOA1 and/or check not cashed in a timely fashion) - best to assume the best.

I sent it to:

USCIS

California Service Center

P.O. Box 10130

Laguna Niguel, CA 92607-0130

It was sent with the post office with delivery confirmation. I know that it's been received.. I'm more concerned if they've began work on it.
