Quizzler immigration question.

I adopted my stepdaughter and she acquired US citizenship. I did get a US passport for her. No interview.

I'm applying for a N-600 cert. of citizenship for her.

On the form it shows a place for her having a interview.

Will she have to pass a 10 question test about the US or why the interview? She already has proof of USC by having her US passport.

Anyone been thru getting a N-600?

I've been through this process myself and can tell you the interview is usually a non-event. There's no test since she's already a citizen. Just a quick, perfunctory interview. They will probably go over the questions on the form again and make sure all documents in the file are complete. Probably will want to see originals of any photocopies submitted. Make sure you or your wife (a legal guardian) will accompany your stepdaughter.

I paid a lawyer $1,000 and it was EASY. Filed 2 weeks after my stepdaughter arrived from the Philippines. It only took 1 1/2 months.

Shop around as some lawyers wanted a lot more money.

I guess you could do it yourself but I was burned out on paperwork and government from doing the immigration process.

Lawyer was GOOD and worth the money.

Each county has different requirements. Ours wasn't much as we didn't have to do anything but go to court. Judge's family was from the same province as my wife so "Slam dunk".
