All and all, the trip was a good one – lots of quality time, lots of family time – And meeting JAEng was awesome, we had an instant connection and it was like I met my long lost sister!

Awww, same here, that's why I've been stalking you ever since LOL!

Had two very interesting conversations in JA which seemed very relevant to the board.

They have some people employed as 'Tourism Corps', basically for tourist information etc.

Got talking to one of the guys, he was decent looking, very clean cut. He told me he had been with his childhood sweetheart for 15 years, they had two kids together and lived together. He said he had met this American woman who fell in love with him, and even though his 'wife' didn't like the idea, he was going to marry her, come to the States and diverced her as soon as he could and bring his kids and the girlfriend over.

I asked him how on earth his girlfriend was happy with him doing that. He said that she wasn't too happy, but she realized that it was for the kid's best interest and even for their best interest as a family. He went on to say he took his American woman round to meet her and the kids. He said his mother was a christian, and while she wasn't too happy either, she didn't condemn it because he had to do what he had to do. Said his mother talked to his American girlfriend all the time, cooked for her etc.

Another thing he said that he was using to justify the whole scenario is that he said his American girl was older and had on 'weight', so she couldn't possibly expect to get a young, fit guy like him for her own just like that.

Asked him if he mentioned that to her, he laughed.

Just shook my head.

On my last day there, this couple was sitting beside me on the beach. She was English, he was Jamaican. He was being very attentive to his wife, rubbing suntan oil on her, kissing her, giving her little hugs, laughing with her.

So, a guy passed by and made a comment to me, I answered him with an insult in patois, so the husband started CRACKING up and started talking to me.

He said he was a 'beach boy', he went around and slept with the tourists to make a living. Said he did it to survive. So he was telling me, while he slept with ugly women, huge women, nasty women, he was on the look out for one he could 'stomach' living with until he got his stay.

He told me his wife was cool, he liked her because she was naive, believed any story he told her, any excuse he came up with. Said he made up his mind there he was going to marry her because he would be able to 'do his thing'.

They had been married for 6 months, and they were in Jamaica for a month, he boasted of how he had his girlfriend come down and stay in the same hotel and told his wife she was his cousin. Laughed about his wife bringing down clothes for his girlfriend.

I was taken aback, speechless. And he was saying most of this with his wife just out of earshot, but while attending to her needs. She probably thought she was in PARADISE, had the most thoughtful, solicitous husband ever.....

And I guess what amazed me was that he felt the need to sit there telling me all of this like it was something good.

Thanks for the heads up JaEnglish. While I don't like to paint everyone with the same brush I just like to say that the behavior you are speaking about it EXTREMELY UNSAVORY and DOWNRIGHT despicable and frankly it does not paint Jamaica in a good light! I am a Christian woman and I do not see how people can call themselves Christian or even a good person and behave in such a manner! The ends do not justify the means! We are to look to God as our provider and our SOURCE for EVERYTHING not other people! I have been up and I have been down and God brought me through all of it sometimes he used other people to help me along my way but I NEVER USED ANYONE....YOU REAP WHAT YOU SOW IS ALL I CAN SAY AND GOD BLESS ANYBODY WHO THINKS TAKING ADVANTAGE OF OTHERS IS OK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Opportunities are like sunrises - if you wait too long, you miss them.

Good morning all!! how are ya'll on this sat

im at work doing a likkle OT..

ja2.. girl, yo mama was like mine.. we mus talk LOL.. ur story is very inspiring to me.. i stopped after 3 yrs of skool.. i was going to pharmacy skool and just didn't expect all of the high level math so i stopped, but never went back to finish another major.. ive had the bug to go back the last couple of mnths and u are such a GREAT motivation mami.. congrats on all ur success..

only thing that stops me and u mothers can counsel me.. i don't want to be a burden to my kids.. i don't want to take away from their time and money i could be spending on them.. i know i am crazy and have to think about the long run instead of the right now.. its just REALLY hard to think that way.

okay.. jaenglish.. ur story is so sad and it just fuels what i have always feared about some ja/us relationships.. u just NEVER know man..

no lie.. i used to think that about my sweetie.. a LOOONNNNNGGGGG time ago i used to think all this was just a plan for a better life, that he would leave me and bring his baby mama and their kids here after the 2 years. I KNOW men that have done it.. another reason i wasn't in such a big rush to divorce.. ive told him.. if u need papers.. u need to find somebody else cuz i am not gonna be avail anytime soon.. needless to say in time i got over that fear.. on to just wondering if we will get along in real life as well as we do in paradise.. :bonk::bonk: my poor baby, what hoops he has to jump thru.. oh well aren't we worth it LOL

it just soo messed up that this is done and the poor women are left to pick up the pieces of their heart and their lives..

roger admitted that he has thought about doing it, marrying for papers, he even said his family in FL had ppl that would do it.. but he said that he couldn't bring himself to do it.. i don't know if its his love for me (what he says) or just a conscience.. i mean, how can u go thru w/ such trickery DAY IN AND DAY OUT.. pretending to be a husband a soul mate..

ive tried to be w/ men that i just wasn't attracted to, becuz they were GOOD to me, and it wasn't easy for me AT ALL, i couldn't make myself do the things u do to someone u love, yet these men do w/out batting an eye..

but a friend of mine told me, its the survival factor.. they will do WHATEVER they have to to get to and stay in the States..

Wow - Was this the couple with the baby?

Nope, don't think you had come out yet, they were sitting to my left, she was in a black and white bathing suit, he had red swimming shorts on. She had braids in her hair, kinda larger woman....

See, a BUSINESS marriage I can understand, when both parties KNOW what they want.

But tis is I guess everyone's secret worst fears.

Now, this is not to scare anyone, because TRUST me, there are almost ALWAYS signs!! But listen to them!! Trust your intuition!!

man i have sooooooooooo many stories about that

ppl do not understand that having residency in a first world country (is not just the us alone) is like gold for ALOT of jamaicans

that man's childhood sweetheart might as well forget about him

because there are VERY VERY FEW men who resort to those tactics who turn their mind back to jamaica once they leave

and as trelawny says, you reap what you sew. God does not sleep. that is a FACT! and is nuff a dem sell dem soul fi greencard and they are no better off for it

might as well dem did stay a jamaica an suffa di way dem end up a live when dem reach farrin

Bunzarelli, thanks for posting what you have stated, because it is so true, once the Jamaica leaves jamaica, he doesnot look back. So, that sweetheart that he is talking about that he will bring here once he has obtained his divorce, is so far off of his radar, the sweethear has moved on too.

Most of these guys that runs these scams finds that there lives are no better here in the USa, than it was in Jamaica. They have lost their finanical pot.

i know a lady who literally fretted to death because her husband left her promising her he would return and he never did

and it didn't even take him long to start with the foolishness

within 6 mths of leaving he pretty much cut off communication

and when you think about it, what does it say about someone if they are desperate enough to resort to that, to trick someone into beleiving they love them for an opportunity. he has the wool fully pulled over her eyes
