Ladies - for those going through the visa process...things are going to get tougher and tougher. People are always gonna have something nasty or negative to say....gotta have thick skin...

definitely not pretty! and really thick skin, and recognize which battles are worth fighting and which are not.

That's the key in life! I have a book called Don't Sweat the Small Stuff - I refer to that book alot through life.

Jawi, thanks for being the best big sister a girl could have but no advice you gave would have stopped me from loving this man and taking a chance on love. He destroyed what we could have had and all of the I told you so’s don’t matter one bit to me.

Each person puts on their shoes each day and has to walk their own walk. No matter what is put on this site, people are going to love who they love until the other person proves themselves unworthy.

I shared my story because it’s good for me to get it off my chest and because the other woman brought it to the site. I’m not one who cares about those of you that may be laughing at my misfortune. Even if you think you can predict the outcome of your own live there are areas that will and do open to another path you didn’t expect. That is life. And when life happens to members on this board (good or bad) it is bound to come back around. You can only keep a secret for so long.

Shemmy, don't go to Jamaica, go to one of the other islands. Let Jamaica be your and his get away and goin home trip. There are so many other beautiful caribbean island out there, try one of them.

Yeah girl, I need a break. Damien is focused on our August trip and I'm ready to go now. I will never understand why he needs so much money to take back home . It makes me sad.

Yeah girl, I need a break. Damien is focused on our August trip and I'm ready to go now. I will never understand why he needs so much money to take back home . It makes me sad.

Girl, don't get me started on that...but he's not alone. People do it for different reason. Maybe he's building ya'll surprise dream home (you never know) or he has a SURPRISE in store for you. I'm still trying to get my husband to tell me where the heck we're going in July. I know the resort is in St. Elizabeth, but that's about it. Before I had my son I would work about 30 hours extra overtime per week when ever I traveled to Jamaica. One to have some spending cash and the other the bank. Maybe that's what he's doing. I'm glad I did that when I had the opportunity to, because now I go home with limited funds. I only touch the bank account back home if I need to. I have to really discipline myself.

Oh trust me, I KNOW that everyone wants to come here however they can. I've had nearly every JA man I've come across there beg me to bring my friends over cause they want the same chance my mister is getting. Granted, they don't outright say that but I can read between the lines. I try to explain that even if I could get my girlfriends to come over, it doesn't mean there's any guarantee that they'll like any of these guys. And I know many of them asking are dogs who have many girlfriends (or a wife) in JA already. And enough of them are rumheads who none of my friends would want so it makes for slim pickings if that is someone's intention (to go over there to find someone). But yes, the reality is that getting to America is a main goal for many and for all I know, my mister could be the best actor in the world and that's his only reason for being with me. I'm well aware of this possibility as I'm sure most, if not all, of the yardies are too. We can only hope and pray that our situation is 'different' from those that don't turn out so well but you never know until you try and take a chance on that love. And it doesn't help to have someone come along and say "I told you so!" That's just plain petty and does nothing to open up someone's eyes to the 'dangers' of involving one's self with a Jamaican.

Yup, a Jamaican can will do anything to get here !

I agree w/Kimmy! Oh, I've been to the Bahamas, Cayman, Barbados, TNT, St. Maarteen, Antigua, PR, DR (used to work for Pan Am )...they are ALL lovely...but fuh mi ...there is no place like home. But IMO, dem all fail in some aspect, in comparison to JA. However, my opinion is obvioulsy biased to my homeland!
