Quick question on the K-1 process....

Did any of you who did the K-1 do that 2nd letter of 'intent to marry' like they recommend in the guides?? I was just wondering how necessary it is and if the embassy ever checks on that. I'm guessing it can't hurt to have it and it doesn't take long but has anyone ever had the interviewer ask for it or look at it?

Leah, you being at the interview is all the "intent" they need. I did one when he was going alone in November, but didn't bother with it when I attended.

Question - I'm too lazy to look up a map. How far is Runaway Bay from Ochi?

Shemmy; it depends who a drive and traffic, it's on the new road, so 20 mins or less.

Speaking of new road....That big hill or should I say MOUNTAIN that you have to cross to get to Ochi from Mo bay. I was so scared the bus was going to flip over. Then coming back the bus took the back road and stop at a jerk centre.

We are cool. I appreciate that you are trying to give my sister some real advice from a Jamaican male perspective...but some things are not necessary. She has never had a negative exchange with anyone on this site...so please don't come at her crazy attacking her heart or her faith. Each person puts on their shoes each day and has to walk their own walk. No matter what is put on this site, people are going to love who they love until the other person proves themselves unworthy.

I shared my story because it’s good for me to get it off my chest and because the other woman brought it to the site. I’m not one who cares about those of you that may be laughing at my misfortune. Even if you think you can predict the outcome of your own live there are areas that will and do open to another path you didn’t expect. That is life. Oh trust me, I KNOW that everyone wants to come here however they can. I've had nearly every JA man I've come across there beg me to bring my friends over cause they want the same chance my mister is getting. Granted, they don't outright say that but I can read between the lines. I try to explain that even if I could get my girlfriends to come over, it doesn't mean there's any guarantee that they'll like any of these guys. And I know many of them asking are dogs who have many girlfriends (or a wife) in JA already. And enough of them are rumheads who none of my friends would want so it makes for slim pickings if that is someone's intention (to go over there to find someone). But yes, the reality is that getting to America is a main goal for many and for all I know, my mister could be the best actor in the world and that's his only reason for being with me. I'm well aware of this possibility as I'm sure most, if not all, of the yardies are too. We can only hope and pray that our situation is 'different' from those that don't turn out so well but you never know until you try and take a chance on that love. And it doesn't help to have someone come along and say "I told you so!" That's just plain petty and does nothing to open up someone's eyes to the 'dangers' of involving one's self with a Jamaican.
