I called the 'in-house' DJ for my venue today to book something and they want me to go in and meet with them, UGH, what a pain. The guy was a bit of an #### too.... I'm only using them because otherwise we have to pay some astronomical fee to just use the sound system. They better cut me a deal since i don't want any dry ice.

DJ's are such a pain! I met one at a bridal fair, talked to him for a bit, and he told me to e-mail him the next day and he'd give me a discount. So I e-mailed him and it took him 2 weeks to reply! Then he sent me a contract with a higher price then he quoted me. The heck with that guy! I've since found a new guy that seems much nicer. The company also has live music options so I can get my violinist for the ceremony included with the DJ price. I've never heard of a venue with an 'in house' DJ! I guess that could be a good and a bad thing... less searching but you aren't left with much option. Good luck!

Dry ice at a wedding? for what?

US and Canada have minimum postcard sizes!!!!! WHO KNEW??!! I mean there were minimums, but... . Well, the invites are stamped, sealed, and ready to be delivered. BUT, found out today that the US and Canada have different postcard minimum requirements!!!

Canada: 3.5" x 5.5"

USA: 3.5" x 5"

Well... I was told wrong and our response postcards are 3" x 5.5" . *sigh* So, my mom says that they should still be okay. She insists that she's received postcards smaller than that as well as thank you notes smaller than that. So... we'll see. Anyway... if you're planning on response postcards - beware of your size choices!!!

I hope the response cards still come back!!!

Haha, Dry ice for the first dance! So tacky! It's included in their cheapest package - but I really don't want it, and their cheapest package is still a bit more than I wanted to pay... so hopefully they can take it out and cheapen the package.

I wish I could afford a band, but I don't really want to spend the money on it.

I'm sure they will be fine. It's like like they are going to take out a ruler and measure each one.

Wow that is tacky! So it makes funky smoke on the dance floor? That's up there with people using balloons as centerpieces. No offense if anyone has done that but it kinda makes the wedding look like a 5 year old's birthday party. I hear dry ice is expensive, so maybe they'll give you a break... I'd hope so anyways! The live band would be really nice, I agree, but they tend to be ridiculously expensive. We did some pricing, and it was going to cost us $50 more to have a violinist play live at the ceremony then it was for a guy to come and play a CD in the background... That was worth it, but $2,500 more to have a live band instead of a DJ was definitely not worth it!

We picked out our centerpieces :star: The only thing I'm unsure of is that they are made with silk flowers not real ones... apparently It would be impossible to do it with real flowers, they would die really quickly. I think I can get over it.
