Why do people think that when they don't want to come to the wedding they can tell someone who will tell me?

Really, I have 3 cousins who haven't responded yet, so I sent them a facebook yesterday. One responded saying "Oh, I thought my mom would tell you I can't come". Really? I put a self addressed stamped envelope in with the invitations. How hard is it to write your name and check the box saying you can't come?

I am excited! Tonight a couple older lady friends are coming over to help me stuff envelopes and seal them up for all my invitations! All my bridesmaids and family live elsewhere and this is a lifesaver!

Ugh, I HATED that!! I had a few people do that to me as well. I didn't enclose a self addressed stamped envelope for you just to toss it aside... thank you very much for wasting my 89 cents. It made me mad that I had to even contact people, It's not like we didn't make it extremely easy for them to send a proper response.

Wedding organizing is a pain. For the record, I'm never doing it again and I'm very happy about that :P

so i feel kinda jealous of david. jealous is prolly the wrong word actually. he has lots of friends and they are giving him a bachelor party friday night. My friends haven't talked to me in 6 months even though i've tried contacting them, and well my family mother sand sister are well..not very family oriented. so while he is out doign that, i'm goign to be cooking some food stuff etc in advanced for my wedding. yep..thats right..the bride is making her own wedding food.

i am a pretty good cook, i love doing things for large parties, and well, i'm also the type that prefers to do alot of stuff herself or it wont get done right. so in honesty i dont really mind. gives me a chance to introduce them to my scottish, english cooking, as his family is of german descent. and i kinda missed out on cooking easter dinner like i had planned. i'm not doing it all, just the main courses and a side dish or two. the rest of the family is helping out with the other food stuffs.

so a few days left, and i still have to get my hair cut, get nylons, get my cake, and the in laws still need to clean out the lving room where we are having the ceremony..that seems to be teh biggest challenge..they've only had since oh january to do it../sigh.

at least my dress is done, david has his suit, and we have a mini honeymoon planned, with an overnight stay at the sybaris resort. all in all..i'm not nearly as stressed as i should be..lol

I feel your pain ... we sent out our invites over a month ago and we've gotten back like 3 RSVP's. I asked for a response before May 2 though so I guess I was really shooting myself in the foot there ... I should've given a shorter timeframe :P

So it's been 2+ months since our wedding.

We did not get a gift from my husband's sister's in laws.

They even asked what we wanted, but we didn't get anything.

Is there any way to like... hint or is it rude to do so? I think it's sort of rude that they didn't give a gift at all. My mom thinks so as well.

Yeah that's really rude Rhiann, I agree. We had something similar happen to us. A close friend of my husbands family came to the wedding without a gift, or even a card. He told Bill's dad to tell us that he didn't get us anything because he didn't know what to get... Even though we had a wedding registry. What a lame excuse. So to this day I haven't got a gift from him, but I just let it go. Needless to say my opinion of him has decreased quite a bit... Not that it was ever really high.

I really don't think you can do much about it, because then you just seem like the bad person, know what I mean?

Yeah, I know what you mean.

I just wanted a second opinion because my mom mentioned it a few days ago. She didnt even want me to invite these people in the first place, so she's acting a bit weird about it.

Thanks for the 2nd opinion :)

While we are in the topic of rudeness, when hubby and I got married, we received neither a gift/card nor a congratulations from his brother and his brother's witch. So now -her- wedding is coming up, and I just dont want to get her a gift/card or say congratulations. :D

Finally married... and still married... ;)

I wouldn't hint, or do anything. Don't send them a thank you card either.

Just let it go, some people are just special.

Wow, people go to weddings and don't give gifts? What is wrong with people??? I don't know how they can live with themselves!

I MUST send out our save the dates this weekend. I have been so lazy about them.

We looked at invitations last weekend at Party City, and surprisingly, they have a lot of really nice ones you can order from large books. I have 4 in mind that I really like... The ones I like best are the most expensive... figures!

Removing Conditions

Sent package to VSC - 8/12/11

NOA1 - 8/16/11
