My dad (step-dad actually) picked up the invites tonight from the printers... I measured right, but I also measured wrong. So, as excited as I should be, I'm actually not. :( I'm taking them to school tomorrow to take off about 1/16 of an inch to 1/8 of an inch. I measured a FULL 5" and I should have measured inside the folds. **sigh** One would assume this should be a happy day. On top of the day I've had, having measured wrong is just the cherry on a really bad, horrible, painful, and excruciatingly hurtful day. Too bad this day, of what should be filled with joy and happiness, is being overshadowed by senility (for real) and frustration by someone whose memory is going, and makes cruel accusations.

I'm trying to put on a happy face... but right now, the frown and sadness are easier than being excited over our invitations.

Awww I'm sorry you had such a horrible day (F) I hope you wake up tomorrow to a better one.

Thank you, Jill. On a good note, though... my dad hadn't really seen the design of the invites and he says he really likes them - he cheated and opened the box. I asked him if he likes them b/c today was so junky for me or if he really liked them. He said he really likes them and if he didn't, then he wouldn't have said anything at all b/c he knew how junky my day has been. That did bring a smile to my face... and when I talked to my fiance' earlier tonight, after sharing the day's events with him, he actually made me laugh out loud - and I rarely do that on a good day!

I'm truly looking forward to waking up to a better day. I just have never been personally exposed to someone going senile and truly losing her mind. It is quite sad especially when her lack of memory and me NOT truly understanding what is happening with her causes such a family rift... even though people in the family are telling me I did nothing wrong and I need to let time pass so time can heal. I'm still afraid family members who I love dearly won't come to our wedding this summer.... Just another dramatic time in my life.

If it isn't immigration drama, it is family drama. Can I jump off this rotating sphere sometime soon??

MY wedding is set for November 14, 2009. Legal one will be as soon as he comes in right after visa in hand so I am guessing July or August for that. WE need to get on his AOS immediately because we have a trip to Ireland planned with my entire family for the end of December so thats why we aren't using the church wedding as the legal thing.

I'm pretty excited! I almost have the invites done, about 2 weeks ahead of schedule. That's my only wedding update... I'm waiting until after the move to do all the finalizations and finishing touches. This means a lot of shopping in 4 weeks! YAY! :P I don't want to go get everything now and risk things being ruined in the move.

Well, I haven't been participating in this thread (mainly because I'm not getting married  ) but it's probably the best place to put this.....

My daughter and I have been wedding dress shopping for the past year. We've been everywhere, and she must have tried on at least 100 gowns. Well, Monday night we bought "The Dress". OMG, as soon as she put it on and started walking towards me, I started crying. She looked absolutely stunning. Here it is:

Me too! That sexalicious. I love those style of dresses... unfortunately they are not very forgiving if you don't have the leanest figure

I haven't been participating in this thread either, mostly because we haven't really started planning yet. Ours is one of those situations where we talked about it, and agreed that we're getting married and doing this process, but that was in the middle of some time apart. He hasn't "officially" proposed, and I don't have a ring, and we haven't made an announcement to everyone... because we haven't seen each other since January. So it seems weird. lol But anyways... We do have some dates in mind, and I'm not sure if the list you posted July, was intended to be the actually 'WEDDING' or the legal marriage. We're doing 2 different ones, because there's absolutely no way that we can afford moving/immigration right now PLUS the wedding... also, I want an outdoor wedding, and our immigration stuff should be done sometime mid-winter, so no. haha

But, I do know that I am getting a proposal when he's here next week! I just don't know exactly when/where/how. hahah I'm excited.

We're hoping that we can be done in time for a January 9th or 10th, 2010 legal wedding in California (with just our parents attending, unless we decide to keep it just the 2 of us). And are still playing around ideas for the big ceremony, which we're calling our RE-Wedding. lol My brother and his family is moving out of the country this year, and I don't know when they'd be able to make it back for the wedding... my parents are also possibly moving out of Canada next year, or the year after, so I don't want to interfere with their plans :( So I have no idea when to do it. We have a few dates in mind. We're also unsure of when would actually be feasible for us to have it, with me not being able to work for the first part of 2010 will cause some issues with being able to have a decent ceremony, and all that fun jazz. SIGH.... So we're thinking 2011, but again, back to my parents moving away.. that might interfere with their plans... thus my dilemma. I plan to talk to them about it after our "official announcement" lol

ANYHOO... hahahah wow, sorry guys. Back to fun stuff.. I DO know what my engagement ring looks like, and I think its' really cute and sparkly, from what I can tell! HAHA My b/f (fiance?!) showed it to me via webcam... he wasn't going to, but I think the stress of the wildfires last week caused him to realize we both needed something positive to share, so he showed me... I was totally caught off guard.... I almost cried.

Also, Krikit, your daughter's dress is lovely!! I couldn't pull that off. lol I have curves, but a bit too many, ifyaknowwhatimean.

OMG! Monday! OMG!

Ok, that's out of my system.

I met with the caterer today and it turns out that a good friend of hers is vegan. She'll be making him some marinated, grilled veggie sandwiches and has added a few pastries that have no eggs or milk. Now I can take making food for Phil's brother off my Sunday "To Do" list.

I also worked out what I'm going to do to honour my mom's memory at my ceremony. I'll be wearing her ruby and yellow gold necklace. It'll look great with the red roses I'll be carrying.

The hair and make-up trilas were yesterday. It was awesome. My stylist and my florist ended up in a huddle in the corner making plans.

Now I've got to go back to playing phone tag with our celebrant. We need to discuss the ceremony since we've decided to deviate from the cookie-cutter Anglican ones.

We're having a grand total of 18 people including Phil and I but it still seems like there's lots to do.

Wish us luck,

Catherine

Honestly, I think a lot of wedding dresses look better on curvy girls! They are just so flattering. I was amazed when I tried on dresses. I'm definitely somewhat curvy and the best ones were all of the very fitted ones. I was so happy!
