Ugh. I have to rant about wedding stuff again.

So this couple that my fiance's mom invited are coming like I said.

But they're not paying for anything.

My fiance's sister is paying for their food and my fiance's mom is paying for them to get there and for the show, since it seems so rude of my parents having to pay for people that werent invited.

I mean, what the hell?

If they want to come, they should be paying for themselves.

Now I'm wondering if I'll be getting a gift from them.

I'm sorry. I think it's rude to not get a gift from those people ESPECIALLY since my fiance and I didnt invite them. I'm getting really unhappy about letting these two come.

AND I JUST FOUND OUT THAT ANOTHER PERSON, THAT I WAS NEVER EVER TOLD ABOUT HAS BEEN INVITED!!

God I want to just cancel this wedding.

I would put your foot down to the people who are inviting people and tell them that these people weren't invited, the invites are out and you don't want a bunch of people you don't even know at your wedding because it makes you uncomfortable. You have ever right to, regardless of whether they are willing to pay for these people or not. If they weren't on the invite list and they werent discussed with you, and especially if you dont know them, they shouldnt be coming. The only exception would be dates or if you had told someone specifically in the invite they could bring someone (you know like "Sam and Guest"). For them to just be inviting people left and right to your wedding (unless they were the ones planning and paying for the whole thing) is incredibly rude.

WOW Rhiann! That's crazy that all these people are being invited without your knowledge :( I hope you're able to straighten it out or at least put an end to any new invitations! You guys know I'm all for big weddings, but ONLY when that's what the bride and groom want as well!

Our invitations are mostly delivered now (a few more Canada ones - we ran out of stamps! - and one or two US ones left to mail), and I keep getting phone calls and texts from my buddies asking me what the M______________ line on the RSVP card is for :lol: I love my friends.

We got our money back from our original caterer. YAY!

I'm so glad my parents or Varba's parents aren't like "You must invite so and so" or are inviting people we don't want.

Rhiann I have a question you may have answered already and I missed. Are the parents paying entirely for the wedding? If so, I can see them inviting people they want to come. It's hard to keep control when someone else is paying for everything.

Apparently my fiance's mom was expecting 15 invitations to be handed to her so she can hand them out at her own will.

She thinks she should have been part of the inviting.

Yeah, that's fine, but the invitations are already out, it's just too late to be inviting people.

It's so rude.

I wish we had enough money to get our own apartment to get away from this stuff :(

I forgot to answer questions, so I have to double post, whoops :D

@Scooter

Half of my fiance's family was wondering what the M_____________ meant too. Silly people.

@Peachey

Yes, my parents are paying for and organizing the entire wedding. They said that anymore people invited will not be coming out of their pocket. Apparently this little list I was given is final, so there will be no more un invited people coming.

My mom sent me the wedding list and I was like "Who the heck is Christine and Eric!?" I thought my mom pulled the same thing my fiance's mom did. Turns out it's the Aunt and Uncle I never see living in BC, haha.

Man people have weird expectations. Maybe that's like some super secret tradition you don't know about LOL.

I feel so bad for my fiance.

He just got beat down by his mom for not including her in the planning.

This whole wedding is turning into a bunch of assumptions.

She assumed he knew that she wanted invitations, she assumed that he knew she wanted to help with the wedding planning, now my poor fiance is all beat down because of all these things he was supposed to know.

I don't know if it's the Chinese culture or not, but this is crazy. It's not hard to ask about things.

She also assumed that he would know stuff about the wedding. This was before my visa interview, he couldn't have told her anything.

*sigh* Is it January 28th yet.

It is Chinese culture, at least, for the invitations. You *have* to send invitations - they won't accept spoken word. They should also be red.

Where did I learn this? A bridal show on TLC. :lol:
