Visiting the US

Hi everybody!

How are you all doing?

So my fiance is coming up for a visit on Friday (hooray!). He's been able to visit a couple times now since we've filed for our K-1 Visa. He is flying up then we are driving down together to PA the next Friday. I'll be driving back on my own 2 weeks later.

I plan on having the following documents with me when we cross the border:

Copy of I-129F application

Letter from employer

Letter from my car company (since I still have payments).

Is that enough to not get denied entry to the USA?

I don't have a lease from my landlord, that expired ages ago and we're just on a month to month rent basis. I do have a note saying that my rent increased last month, should I bring that?

I'm not sure what I should bring for family ties to Canada. All of my family is healthy, I'm not taking care of anyone.

I guess I'm a bit of a worry rat when it comes to this. I just want to make sure I don't cause any problems.

Also, should I expect to be sent into secondary?

Thanks for your help!

I've taken several trips across the border since we filed out K-1 petition in October (4 or 5?) and I've never been asked for evidence or sent into secondary... In fact I was never even asked if we had filed for a visa or where we intended on living. But I think part of that is just good luck on my part, but I was always prepared just in case. It looks like enough evidence to me! When I crossed I just brought a confirmation of enrollment letter from my university stating I'm in school full time until April 22nd 2009.

Sounds like you're well-prepared. Like Hugglebuggles, I too have traveled to the U.S. several times since filing and have encountered no problems whatsoever. In fact, the only time I've ever been sent to secondary was before my fiance and I became engaged and that was because I lacked proof of ties.

Have a great trip!

Sounds like you're good to go...you have lots of documention. Just remember to tell the truth, but I wouldn't volunteer any of what you have unless they ask questions.
