My wife was in the US 6 years ago on a J1 visa. Our case got reviewed today at NVC and our case was put on hold because of documents missing. Some documents pertaining to her previous visa. Either IAP 66 or DS 2019. I havent actually received the RFE letter but the phone clerk told me the NVC will send me an email telling me how to resolve this. Is this an RFE? what is the DS 2019? most visas have a clause where the applicant has to return to the home country for at least two years before they seek another visa? its been 6 years? why do they want these documents? Has anybody else had these problems? I am getting tired of the whole Homeland Security and NVC process...this wasnt written anywhere on the guides either or i would have sent it. Can Anyone help or had experience with this?

THANK YOU

This is an RFE, and the NVC is probably looking for some more information regarding your previous Visa. Did you answer the appropriate questions about being in the US before on a visa? And were the timeframes you listed match when you entered and left the US? I don't know the forms you are referring to, but while waiting for the email, you should review the I-130 and the DS-230 forms and review the information that has been listed in terms of residence, previous visas, and timelines. Good Luck!!

:wow: Now I got stressed out

I don't keep my DS-2019 from the first 3 years when I was on a J-1 and H2B, wish I knew, since I might need them some day :(

I thought just having my visas in passport is some kind of proof :o:(

Wish I could :help: , and since I might need that info eventually (hope not), I'll keep up w/ the post.

Good luck, Siso (F)

Obviously, NVC requests DS-2019 from everyone who ever stayed in the US on J1 visa...an RFE is on its way to me....I was just wondering, if they require us to send them the original or a copy of it...anyone has any idea?

 hate RFE! NVC never even mentioned that you would need to attach this information to the DS230 packet!

Just a small correction...I assumed they want a DS2019...as the NVC operator was not sure what that is they need...gotta wait for the RFE!

In the meanwhile...does anyone know what needs to be sent to them concerning proving that you are not subject to 212(e) 2 year residency? And does it have to original (if it is ds 2019) or can it be a copy?

Thx!
