Hello,?

My wife in the US received an email today that my interview has been set for may 27, 2009. In the letter it said to find the appropriate doc in vancouver and take the letter on the examination date. I am confused about the tb. Do i need to go get my tb exray and shots before the examination or will it be done at the examination? Also what is going on in the examination? Do I have to bring my medical history? if so, how much? I suffered a brain injury and take medication for depression will that be a bad thing to turn me down ? Also, what are the documents I need to take to the interview. I am very lost and stressed. Do I take all the forms that my wife has filled with me to the interview? I would appreciate your help here.

you need to get any mandatory vaccines prior to the medical exam. If you cannot get your shots prior to the medical exam b/c it is unavailable in your area or some other reason, you can arrange it with the medical clinic. They do the Xray @ the exam.

You need to bring proof of your vaccinations, a copy of your passport, and 3 pictures 2"x2" plus the $350 fee.

As for brain injury and medication, the first form they make you fill out will ask you a ton of questions about medications, operations, illnesses, etc. I suggest emailing the medical clinic. wokingmedical@telus.net

Laura will email you an attachment of what you need to do before coming in for the exam. You can also ask her about anything... she's got an answer for everything.

Your TB xray will be done at the medical. It's a fairly basic full physical. If you have a list of the vaccinations you need, determine what you need done, and get them done by your own medical doctor, or just get them at the medical exam. Do you have a vaccination booklet? Do you know what you've had before? You can get a titre test done if you're unsure what you've been vaccinated against.

If you have something from your own medical doctor outlining our brain injury and the prescribed treatment, it might help for the doctor at the medical exam to review, or to attach to the medical. I don't think that depression medication if it's a result of the brain injury will be a bad thing at all, and won't necessitate a negative medical report.

As for what you need to take to your interview, please review the Guides above to see what you'll need, or look at a few threads here in the Canada forum and see what others have been bringing to their interview.

You should fill in your profile as well. You've indicated you're N/A, but you're going for a CR1 interview? That would be in Montreal, even though your medical is going to be in Vancouver.

Best of luck!

The best thing to do is to contact the doctor's office and ask them any questions you have regarding your medication, etc.

The best way to get ahold of them is to send them an email:

wokingmedical@telus.net

That is the email address for Dr. Morgan's office. They will usually answer you back pretty quickly and will send you the forms of what you need to do before your appointment and what you need to bring to the examination. Through this email is also how you book an appointment there.

They only do medical examinations for Visa's on Wednesdays.

so I should ask my doctor about my brain injury and the medications i am taking? and take this to the examination> thanks guys

Yes. There is a question on the medical regarding treatment/diagnosis for mental illness. In your case, since you suffered a brain injury and subsequent depression, you will want the medical results to indicate your exact diagnoses, your prognosis, and the treatment(s) you have completed and/or are currently receiving. Your doctor will likely write a letter on your behalf if you ask them to. You will also need a doctor's note indicating all of the medications that are currently prescribed to you.

Email wokingmedical@telus.net and request that they send you a copy of the medical info package. It outlines exactly what you need to bring with you and what to expect.
