Re Asking about Birth Certificates

Sorry,

I just wanted to be sure about this.

When people talk about needing a 'long form' with parents information, how much information are we talking about?

I was born in Quebec.

I have a Birth Certificate, a letter size blue square one, with all my information and the full names of my parents.

It does not state anything further about them. Should it?!

I sent an original in to the NVC. So if they accepted it does that mean it's the right one.

Also, i'm not sure if it makes a difference, but i'm applying for as an IR1.

Thanks!

I already had the "Certificat de naissance" (Birth Certificate) and I did order a "Copie d'acte de naissance" as instructed here (it's $ 20): http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/reciproc...ocity_3531.html

# Quebec: Applicants should obtain "certified copies of an act" from the Direction de l' Etat Civil ...

However, I did find it a little confusing since my Birth Certificate already stated all the information required elsewhere ( http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/in...ml#certificates )

Each applicant will need to obtain an original birth certificate issued by the official custodian of birth records in the country of birth, showing the date and place of birth and the parentage of the alien, based upon the original registration of birth.

The certificate must contain the:

* Person’s date of birth

* Person’s place of birth

* Names of both parents, and

* Annotation by the appropriate authority indicating that it is an extract from the official records

The information in my "Copy of an act" is identical to the the one on my Birth Certificate; the paper has more fields, but most are empty (on mine). My parents' details (birth dates and such) are not included because they only reproduce the original and well, these were not included on the original. I hope this won't cause me problem later on. :wacko:

Also, the documents will be sent to you in their original language; they do not provide courtesy copy-paste on the English forms (I've asked...)

Nice.

Thanks. I think it's a bit late for me to apply for the Certified Copy of an Act, so i'm just going to swing it with my Birth Certificate and pray to God it works.

Anyone else from Quebec ever just used their Birth Certificate?

Anyhow have any issues with this part of their interview?

Yes, one of the members here (Shiri). Her Husband got to the interview they did not have the translation of the birth certificate and a few other things. NVC had told them they would not need the translation. Anyway, they were sent away without the visa and asked to have the BC translated. So just be sure to get the translation.

The birth certificate is in English, so there is no problem there.

I just want to make sure I can do this with just a Birth Cert. because my meeting is in less than 2 weeks.

Janet

Mine is computer generated, but that's because I have recent ones that I recenly requested from the Government. I'm not sure how it works with original handwritten ones. Hopefully someone else does.
