Dr. Sieden just called me......

Now I am freaking.

I got Hep A in 2006 after traveling in the Philippines. I am fully recovered, everything is good to go. No problems. I told them that at the medical yesterday.

Dr. Seiden himself just called me and asked about it. I told him what I had told the nurse, said I was fully recovered, liver is good etc. And I said "is everything else OK>?" And he said "no, your good".

Of course, now I am not good and am panicking.

I asked the nurse or doctor, she may have been the doctor, if after I told her I had Hep A if this would hinder my application and she said "no". But why did he call me???

I am freaking out. Especially after hearing about that girl who got in trouble (don't remember if she got denied??) for saying she smoked pot in the last 3 yrs....then they pretty much called her a drug addict.

I am about to cry. I would hate to get denied a visa because of something that I had a few yrs ago that I do not have now, is not communicative or anything.

Am I over exaggerating??? He said I was good, but is he really gonna deny me a visa over the phone?

Advice? Thoughts?

Why are you freaking out - if you were honest and upfront with both his nurse and then when he, himself, followed up you have nothing to worry about. Did that previous diagnosis mean you had to provide a Dr's note from your own Dr when you went for the medical? They did blood work on you which will establish that you no longer have it, correct?

He said you're good, stop worrying, although I'd be stressed too! You aren't going to be able to open that sealed envelope to find out what was indicated anyway, but I doubt you have anything to stress over.

Sorry, Carrie. Was just trying to find the documentation on this but I can't recall where I filed it. Dr Seiden was probably just calling to ensure everything was alright and that his healthcare worker had gotten the information correct. I'm sure it's nothing to be concerned with. I'll keep checking for that info for you.

Yeah, I am starting to calm down a bit ;)

No, I never had a doctor check out my Hep A. I had just gotten back from living overseas when I got it and began treatment in Asia, then came home and went to the emergency room where I was treated. I haven't live in Canada in the last 5 years so I have no family doctor.

I mean both doctors at Dr. Seiden said I am good. I am going to take that and go with that. And of course, cross my non Hep A infected fingers ;)

But, no one likes a call from the doctor!! And then you add the fact that something could POSSIBLY cause you from being denied a visa, which means being denied access to the person you love which means yadda yadda yadda, the list goes on and on :P

Ugh...seriously, is it April 18th yet???

Thanks for the replies :)

When I went for the medical I had Dr. Seiden himself in the room. He was training a young girl on her first day of the job, and I was patient #1... so I probably heard a little more than I should have. He was telling her that there are only a couple reasons why the consulate would deny you based on medical circumstances. He said admitting smoking pot more than once can get you a denial, unless you can prove you haven't done it within the last 3 years (he said this is almost impossible to do), 2 DUI's in your entire life or 1 within the last 3 years will get you a denial (they assume you're a drunkard apparently) and the other one was testing positive for HIV. So, given that, I don't think you would be denied based on having Hep A... He probably just wanted to make sure they didn't miss any critical information. He's such a nice guy though!

there was someone else infront of me when I went to my medical. I was #2. I was talking to #1 almost the whole time and she was really worried about everything. I think the test really freak you out and #1 was really worried about her test results. When I told her that the doctor said i was fit and healthy and i can go, she started panicking b/c she said after the doctor checked her health, he came back in the room and asked her if she was pregnant then told her good luck before leaving. So she kept wondering why he would come back and ask her if she was pregnant.

my worry was my eye test and how I couldnt read the letters until the 4th line up for my left eye. but i was just so happy that that was the last test, i forgot about it.

So .... its just nerves. If you are good and healthy... and your relationship is real , you will not be denied.

I had problems with the eye exam too.. I had maybe gotten 2 hours sleep the night before so my vision was a little blurry :P but it didn't seem to matter, I got my visa..

not sure why they need the eye exam anyways...
