My husband got laid off :crying: today, we just got our choice of agent approved by NVC. Can anyone tell me how did your petition go even if your spouse lost their job?

Thank you!

Is your husband is petitioner or the beneficiary?

Either way it shouldn't effect much given he had steady job for the past 3 years, if you guys can show his last employnment letter and also bank assets it should work out.

If your husband is the beneficiary, it won't matter at all.

Best of luck in these tough times (F)

sorry to hear this...our economy is in the tank...if he JUST got laid off he still has his last 3 years of income to provide, (i hope) which is good, the only problem is his "employment letter"...i don't know if that is something NVC overlooks if 3 years of tax filings are provided...maybe he is still on good terms with his NOW prior employer and they can back date the employment letter...good luck

Sorry to hear this. Petitioner current employment is very important. Other option is “joint sponsor“.

If they just did the choice of agent, the petition is approved but the affidavit of support that asks present tense questions about current income has not yet been submitted. A joint sponsor may well be needed.

My husband is the Petitioner (USC). He was laid off as of April 5 it sucked because they just handed him all of the proof that he works for them and then they let him go. He did filed for his taxes for 2007 and 2008 but he was unemployed in 2006. We are so confused now what to do. He has no family member in the State he lives in. How are we gonna get a co-sponsor? This is why we are so worried that I won't be able to see my husband for a long time :(
