I called NVC on Friday and was informed that were missing a PCC from the Local Police Dept since the Passport is 6 months old. I went to the Local PS here and requested to get a PCC for my wife and they said that they have never done anything like that before. I am on a visit here to Hyderabad to be with my wife and kid and im seriously in a big dillema on how to get the PCC from the Local PS now. No one seems to be willing to help even when im giving them money. NVC says this is the only document thats holding up our interview date. Please someone kindly help!?!??!

Police Records

Indian Police Clearance Certificates should be obtained as follows:

All Indian IV applicants aged 16 and above, residing in India, should obtain police certificates from the local Passport Office. These are usually more dependable than those obtained at a local level and indicate that the subject had no serious criminal convictions on record at the time of passport issuance. Applicants whose Indian passport was issued within the past six months may present just the Passport Office Police Certificate, and need not obtain additional police clearances.

Applicants over age 16, whose passports were issued more than six months previous to visa application, must also obtain a police clearance from the District Police Office serving the applicant's place of residence.

Indian passport holders applying for visas outside India should obtain a statement from their local embassy or consulate confirming they have no criminal record.

Non-Indian IV applicants residing in India should obtain police certificates from the District Police Station serving their area of residence.

Indian police certificates are not available for foreign (non-Indian) applicants applying outside India.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

dont go to police station.....they dont give passport Clearance...

go to the local passport ofice or the office which has issued the passport... see on biographic data pc.age ,thr you will find which office has issued tht passport.. and ask them clearance , show them yr approval letter and list of docs needed... they will give you one form to fill up and sone docs. will be needed like residence proof etc..

then they will take yr passport and send it in 5 business days along with clearance..

if they still deny to give clearance go to central passport office and request for clearance...

I think OP does need the PCC from police. The rule is if Passport has been issued within past 6 months then one doesn't need PCC from police, but somehow NVC wants the same from the OP.

OP, may be go to the district superintendent office rather than going to local police station. Most of the time local police station doesn't know about this stuff. Every district has their own rules and regulations of issuing PCC, so one can't say concretely which exact department might help you. You might also try passport office and ask them who deals with police PCC in your area, they sure will know.

Hi,

I have already recieved the Passport PCC from the Regional Passport office and have submitted the same to NVC. Since the passport is older than 6 months I believe they also want the PCC from the Local Distric Police Station. I have found a way to do it and thats to fill an online application at the Hyderabad Police Commisionerate Website and after 7 days of Application Submission we have to take Resident Proof/ID Proof to the office to collect the PCC it seems. Hopefull it works. I am praying hard it goes well as this is the only document that is holding us back!!!

Regards,

Waheed

You need to go to the police headquarters in your area and apply for a PCC. It is a standard procedure. The PCC has to be signed by the SP and will not be issued by the local police station. This document will take a few days to get.

Thank your very much for your help DanielParul. Greatly Appreciate it. :)

Agreed with DanielParul, go to the district police station that covers the area your wife is in, they will ask you to fill out forms, and probably ask for evidence of the immigration file. A copy of the NOA2 or one of the bills from NVC which has the petitioners address on it, and you will need a few passport size photographs.

Good Luck!!
