Yea they tried to say I owed them for a years worth too, but I really just owed them a month and then they kept all my taxes, so I fought the law and the law.. didn't won. :P

They just gave me back all the money owed to me a couple of weeks ago.

Donne moi une poptart!

When I filled out my 2008 taxes, I did not even bother asking for them to figure out the GST. I declined it all together after seeing all the problems people had here with getting it cancelled and/or repaying it.

That would have been smart! Unfortunately I'm lazy and use an accountant for everything... I have no idea how to do my own taxes and I'd rather jump off a bridge then try to learn. I wonder how easy it will be trying to find a US accountant well versed in Canadian tax laws...

Wheres your optimism Julybride?! Ok... whats your real name? because calling you Julybride is getting old... ahaha

Yeah... that's going to be a task... When I go down there and show my Canadian ID they look at me all weird like they aren't sure where Canada is. How hard is doing taxes? I'm a princess and a whimp and have no sense of independence. I say this as I'm preparing to get married and move to a new country... I know right? Is there like a Canadian/US version of turbo tax or something?

so, i got my gst in my account today, but my question is, is that gst from 2007 or 2008 and am i alowed to keep it or is that not mine?

Here's that number I promised, not toll free, but it's the number which CRA lists at the bottom of both the CCTB and the GST notices. I phoned to find out the balance I owed and got the correct address to send my money back to.

I THINK they also cancelled further payments for for or forwarded me to someone who could.
