HELLO!!!!!!!!!!!!! Everything is a "Quick question". Not only is no one asking for a 10 page essay style response with proper referencing, but the "Quick question" title does NOTHING to tell me what your "Quick question" is about. Now I have to take about 4 seconds out of my schedule (depending on how fast my DSL connection is at that moment) to find out if this "Quick question" has any interest/relevance to me. More often than not however, I don''t even open your "Quick question". You would have had a quicker answer had you given more info in your topic!!!

PLEASE NO MORE "QUICK QUESTION" TOPIC TITLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(I am about to have an annoying call with an insurance company claims department who has been nothing but a headache so I think I am in an annoyed mood already. My apologies :P )

We already have a vent forum, lol

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

You know what really annoys me? People who constantly ask questions but have obviously not done the research prior to asking the question. Spoon-feeding gets old really quickly.

I can agree with that. It drives me nuts to see six questions on a page that are all just differently worded versions of the same thing, and not one of them will check one of the others to see if it applies to them. Also, the people who post to the effect of "tell me exactly what I need to do, step by step, for this" and ignore any reference to the guides. NUH UH IF I HAD TO SUFFER AND DO THIS MYSELF, SO DO YOU.

Aren't you new here?

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

And if you look at her topics they're all questions.

But she doesn't title her topics: QUICK QUESTION.

So I guess that's her point.

How do I get married??

Carrie,

Listen, we are a welcoming bunch and we love ya, but this was completely pointless and sort of the pot calling the kettle black, ya know?

Really - what we're tired of is this darn Immigration process...it sucks and makes us cranky.

I like quick answers to my quick questions.....sometimes we're all tired of reading through threads though - who has the time? :( Such is life though

My pet peeve is people who get surprised by the next step in the process...people, if you're currently K1, read ahead and find out what you'll be doing next month or even next year! Don't act surprised that the AOS is $1010 and you don't have the cash...plan ahead friends.

Guess I was one of them at a certain point, but I make it my business to read around the other forums (as irritating as they can be) and at least TRY and figure things out for myself.

Wow...

Interesting.

I don't know how much clearer I could have been. I wasn't saying, "why do people come here to ask quick questions!!??". So, to say it is the 'pot calling the kettle black' is completely inaccurate. In that case, I would have to be posting, "hey guys Quick question" in all my title posting's. I do not. I am clear and concise. Not only for me, but for other people who may have a similar situation.

My point was simply that posts exist to help other people, not only to get the answer they want, but in case anyone else has the same question. I thought that is why these types of forums existed??? And when one puts, "Quick question" as a title, it doesn't tell the reader if a) they can help answer the question and B) if maybe this pertains to their situation or not.

Didn't think I'd get slammed and disrespected stating that it annoys me when people don't post their topics IN the topic section - imagine if everyone put "quick question" as a title - how effective would this forum be??

I also don't ask the majority of my questions without doing my research, as was implied by someone here. If you are referring to my VA license post, I fully stated that I should have done it first, then I went to post the information I found, IN CASE ANYONE ELSE HAD A QUESTION. Should I have researched first? Sure, but there are days (in this YEAR LONG PROCESS) that I am so sick of researching every possible piece of information that yes, there are times it is easier to just ask. And, please, as if EVERYONE has researched every possibe USCIS document before asking questions on here. Give me a break. Sometimes also, people like to hear what they did in their experience. I guess some people here are more helpful than others. I would be more than willing to help someone, and give them step-by-step instructions on how to do something! I think that's a problem with a lot of people today - "hey I COULD help you but *I* had to suffer and do it so you have to suffer also!!!" Nice.

So much for everyone on here being so nice and respectful. But I guess it is easy to be disrespectful to someone when one remains anonymous. (Not referring to everyone here, just some).

So it's perfectly okay for you to criticize others and the way they choose to ask questions but when the tables are turned you get defensive?

That's a little ridiculous.

Carrie, everyone in here IS nice, as well as helpful. They are also a fun bunch who like to joke and have fun. From my own perspective, I felt I responded to a number of your questions with helpful information but got the feeling that you were not interested in hearing any of it. And then when I saw how rude you were to a few people..... well.... it sure did rub me the wrong way. And probably a few others, too.

Maybe this is a good time to begin again.
