Hotwire and Montreal Hotels

So, I just made our reservation via Hotwire and got the hotel we wanted (5 minute walk from the Consulate!)! However, I have heard from people in the past, that it is a good idea to call the hotel ahead of time and make some sort of room request (ie double beds or king bed). That way, you're for sure on their list for the reserved nights.

Can anyone tell me more about the Hotwire reservation process??

Thanks!

I worked at a hotel/convention facility for 8 years as the Front Desk Supervisor, reservations come through regularily and with some larger hotels, like the one I worked at, it was within minutes of being booked online through a third party. You can call the hotel tonight and say your calling to verify your reservation and give your name and they will tell you if they have it or not, and then just say, and you have me booked for a queen, non-smoking, or whatever it is. If your trying to make changes to your reservation, this time of the night is best. Chances are you get the auditor for the night shift, and not a regular front desk agent and you can make changes easier I have found. I'd have future guests calling all through the day...and you knew they were just checking because they booked online. I have never used Hotwire myself, or any other one that you pay in advance so they may do things differently as far as forwarding reservations. But I can't imagine. Only because you can book up so fast and they don't want to overbook and get caught trying to find you someplace else to stay. Been there, done that! Good luck!

When you sign up for a Hotwire account you put in the size bed etc. I have never had any trouble in 6 years of using Hotwire of not having exactly what I had wanted. Good luck on your interview.

I booked with hotwire in Montreal. I booked only hours before checking in and everything was fine. The man at the desk just had to look something up in another room. Then he came back and asked if we would like one king or two queens... and that was it. I've always heard good things about hotwire so I wouldn't worry about it.

Well, I called last night and requested a King bed. She said it is a request, and it would be noted on our reservation. Then, I went to the hotel's website (remember me saying I'm a bit Type A???) just to see what the digs looked like. I noticed that there was an e-concierge. Basically, a way to make requests prior to arrival! So, I used our reservation confirmation number and I was in!! Best part was... I saw that we had in fact, booked a King room! Yea! In addition, I was able to make a request for foam pillows... truly despise feather pillows wayyyy toooo hard (I wake up with headaches!). Then, this morning, I got an email confirmation regarding the request for foam pillows. BIG yea!!!

Thanks for the suggestion of calling last night!
