Thanks guys re: the address. I've been trying to call the NVC, at the 603-334-0700 number listed on our NOA2, but it's no success. It's either busy, or goes to some guys cell phone!? haha #######.

Oh well, my fiance is at work right now, but I'll have him give it a whirl when he gets home.

Going to be annoying and ask you guys to double check my I-134 list

I have:

completed I-134

three months of pay stubs

letter from employer

letter from bank

three years of tax transcripts

(I've had this job for less than a year, so I have a co-sponsor even though I meet the minimum)

my cosponsor has:

completed I-134

letter of self-employment

3 years of tax transcripts

letter from bank

(co-sponsor is well over minimum)

The question really is here: I just read Ewok's list under the consulate thread, and he said everything needs to be in duplicate. Do I need to order another set of tax transcripts ASAP?

Hm, interesting because he said pretty much all of Taipei spoke Mandarin, which he speaks. He doesn't know a single word of Cantonese.

Yes, interesting, doesn't know how to speak Cantonese. Not a big surprise because the languages are so regional. I wonder what my girls would say he spoke. I know that the PRC switched to simplified Mandarin and the ROC uses traditional. In the USA the "Chinese" who speak Cantonese make sure their children can read and write Mandarin. In my son's Mandarin class it is mostly kids from Taiwan.

Hm, I'm not sure if he speaks the simplified or the traditional. I'm pretty sure it's the simplified version though, since he said that traditional wasn't taught to him in school, or something like that. Tis been a while since I asked him.... and I still don't really understand a word of what he says in Mandarin

Just make an extra photocopy of the tax transcripts - you don't need two sets of 'originals'.

Still makes me tear up every time I hear it and think about my girls.

Wouldn't it be nice if we were older

Then we wouldn't have to wait so long

And wouldn't it be nice to live together

In the kind of world where we belong

You know it's gonna make it that much better

When we can say goodnight and stay together

Wouldn't it be nice if we could wake up

In the morning when the day is new

And after having spent the day together

Hold each other close the whole night through

Happy times together we've been spending

I wish that every kiss was neverending

Wouldn't it be nice

Maybe if we think and wish and hope and pray it might come true

Baby then there wouldn't be a single thing we couldn't do

We could be married

And then we'd be happy

Wouldn't it be nice

You know it seems the more we talk about it

It only makes it worse to live without it

But let's talk about it

Wouldn't it be nice?

wow... that's FAST Jauque.... And the day before your medical??? Will they just say your visa is approved pending medical?

We received our NOA2 hardcopy last Thursday. I was hoping my fiance would wait until I arrived so that we could open it together, but he didn't know what it was, or wasn't thinking or something, and just opened it. sigh. Oh well. lol To his credit, I arrived a day later than I was supposed to, due to THE MOST ridiculous flying experience I have ever had. 21 hour delay anyone? yeah... don't get me started. lol

Also, I'm having to call USCIS for the first time (eek), to change my address. I'm just wondering how quickly does an address change go into effect, and when they will start mailing ME (the beneficiary) information? I'm concerned I'm going to miss things in the mail. I just called them and listened to a lengthy prompt that said things about changing the address online, or changing it over the phone, but needing to send in a form?! UGH. I just wanted to change the address. How do I even do that? I can't find a spot on the uscis website to do so. I know a few of you have had address changes, so I was hoping to pick some brains on that.

From what I've read in the Canada forum it's fine to do the medical the day after and then just return the next day with the medical results.

Since you have your approval I would call the NVC and change your adress with them that way you know they will have the right adress on it when it gets forwarded to the consulate. I'm pretty sure after the USCIS sends it off they no longer have it available to them to make adress changes on the papers themselves.

Enjoy your trip and boo to flying delays!

Congrats Jauque on your interview date! That is really soon!!

I did my medical the day after my interview, and it worked out really well for me in Vancouver! Really sucks that is the only place in Western Canada to go for a US immigration medical  And only offered on Wednesdays!! So it all has to be done in 1 trip. After the interview, I was given a letter of authorization to return to the consulate and they marked for what reason. The day after the medical results are submitted you do not need a letter to return for the Visa pickup, the guards might recognize by then....lol...You can also just give the consulate an expresspost mailer on the day you submit your medical results, instead of sticking around Vancouver one more night.

My fiance is flying to Edmonton and then we're going to drive to Vancouver and then hopefully we were going to drive from Vancouver straight to Kansas. Thus my concern with them mailing my visa as I won't be home to get it. I'm going to hope they let me pick it up the day of the medical or the day after (even the day after that) it would really suck if it got mailed back to Northern Alberta and I had to wait for my parents to mail it back to me.

Thanks for the congratz, I'm pretty stoked just a little stressed about all the little details! :dancing:

Going to be annoying and ask you guys to double check my I-134 list

completed I-134

three months of pay stubs

my cosponsor has:

completed I-134

3 years of tax transcripts

letter from bank

(co-sponsor is well over minimum)

The question really is here: I just read Ewok's list under the consulate thread, and he said everything needs to be in duplicate. Do I need to order another set of tax transcripts ASAP?

Here is what the co-sponsor has to provide in my case:

- Signed co-sponsor letter and have it notarized.

- I-134 form (not notarized)

- A signed letter from the co-sponsor employer on their letterhead using the template. (not notarized)

- A copy of the co-sponsor passport ID page. (not notarized)

- A copy of the co-sponsor 2006-7-8 tax forms and W-2s. (not notarized)

- Pay stub(s) of the co-sponsor showing income for the previous six months. (not notarized)

Co-sponsor letter:

===================

Date: August 4, 2009

To: U.S. Consulate General Guangzhou

From: [co-sponsor name]

Street address

City, state, zip

Subject: [petitioner name and date of birth]

I am pleased to co-sponsor the application for the visas of xxxxxxxxxxxx. They will join the principal sponsor, xxxxxxxx, in the USA.

I am familiar with the role and obligations of visa sponsorship and the expectations in this undertaking.

I hope that this arrangement is satisfactory and you can proceed with granting xxxxxxx the visas they seek. On behalf of all of my family, I can add that we look forward to their arrival, and that all of us will be doing our part to assure that their transition is a comfortable one.

Kind regards,

[co-sponsor name]

================

Employment letter template (obviously correct the info):

==================

Date: August 6, 2009

To: U.S. Consulate General Guangzhou

From: xxxxx General Hospital

Street address

City, state, zip

Subject: [co-sponsor name] Employment

This letter confirms that xxxxxxxxxxxx is a permanent employee of xxxxxxxxx General Hospital in the position of xxxxxxxxxxxx. She began her employment here on November 11, 1991. Her current salary is $21 per hour.

If there are any questions please feel free to contact the hospital and speak with our Human Resource Department.

Thank you,

Holy moly thats not much time to pack up and get outta dodge!!

As long as there isn't any hold ups they should be able to print your Visa and it be ready for pick-up Thursday @ 2:30 pm. Oh and don't wait in the line up for Visa pick-up!! (I did, wasted about 5 minutes thinking....I don't think I am in the right line....then I remembered VJ lol) Those people are picking up visa's in the lobby before security checkpoint. K visas have to go all the way up to the 20th floor and through security twice for Visa pick-up!!

Hm, I'm not sure if he speaks the simplified or the traditional. I'm pretty sure it's the simplified version though, since he said that traditional wasn't taught to him in school, or something like that. Tis been a while since I asked him.... and I still don't really understand a word of what he says in Mandarin

 Simplified and Traditional are the characters, ways of writing and reading. Speaking is so regional. Next time he calls, answer the phone "WEI" (pronounced WAY) which is phone talk HELLO in China. When he recovers and as he asks how are you, say WO HEN HAO (woah hen how - I'm fine) then ask him NI HAO MA (knee how mah - how are you). Just to freak him out a little. :)

Haha. And my fiance actually can't write Mandarin anymore. He claims he forgot how to.

And it's weird. I've been trying to learn the language, but when I try to speak it, the people around him end up intimidating me so much. It's like one mis-pronounced word will be the death of me

Yeah, I told my Hua that I will never learn to read and write Mandarin (simp or trad), it is just too much for my old brain. Speaking is a little easier. But in a group of "Chinese" it is hopeless. They speak faster than Chicagoans/New Yorkers! So I have just learned 70-80 words and the common phrases... especially
