AOS Package

We just got back from the post office mailing Abdel's AOS, EAD & AP package. What a huge job that was! We couldn't even use the standard Express Mail package because it was so big - we had to use the floppy big envelope.

I am so glad that is finished. We expect to finish the bathroom this weekend except for sealing the border on the tile, and hope to get a good bit done in the laundry room too. Thank goodness that is out of the way and we can focus on the house more now.

Congrats Liz & Abdel! What a relief to have it done, eh? I was just online w/ Said and was talking about what I had to do around the house... he says to me "I wish I could be there to help you. We will make a nice garden and make a lovely home" - He's been here before, but hopefully he knows what he's in for!!! LOL... Insh'allah, we will get things together nicely. It will just be nice to have him here to do things with me.

I'm rambling on... CONGRATS GETTING UR PACKAGE OUT!!! We are nearly ready to send our K1 pkg out too (finally!!!).

Good luck on your processing.

A 221(g) is NOT a denial. If he told you he will call you in one or two weeks, you are probably now in Administrative Review. You really need to look at the paper he gave you and see what is checked.

The paper they gave you will have a list with things they can mark off. The first item on that list is usually Administrative Review. This just means you have to wait while they are running a background check on you. Also, they can mark that they are returning your case to USCIS. Even if this is the case, you have not been denied. Your case will be reviewed and you will have a chance to appeal.

You really need to look to see exactly what is marked on the paper you were given. Do not assume you have been denied.

If you want to be in touch with my husband, send a private email to us and he will get it.

Rebecca

Noura, You haven't even sent in your I-129F yet? Shame on you girl! I thought I was late. Just kidding, I know you've had document issues. I miss talking to you online. I was just telling Abdel this morning that you were the last person I talked to on Yahoo Messenger. I don't even keep it on anymore now that he is here.

Rebecca, I miss talking to you too.

Rachid, it actually sounds like you got approved and will have a visa in 2 to 4 weeks. This is very normal processing in Morocco. Nobody gets the visa the same day there anymore. If you read the consulate website you will see that it is even posted there that they don't issue them the same day. Sometimes they keep the passports there, sometimes they do not. I think they were keeping them the week Abdel was there because it was Ramadan and for some weird reason they were in a generous mood. Don't be surprised if they ask you to bring in your passport and leave it, and don't call you to come get it for a week or two. That is normal there too.

Thank you all for the best wishes. I looked on the timelines here and see that since Atlanta is our office, we are probably in for a very long wait for an interview. I'm glad they don't process the EAD & AP or we'd never get those either. Looks like I'll be hanging out with you guys for at least another year, and maybe by then you'll be such close friends I won't be able to leave!

Congrats on getting your packet off, Liz! We're still waiting on the documents from our co-sponsor, I don't think he really wants to do it but Majid says he has to because he knows if he doesn't Maj will tell his family and he'll be embarrassed. Sometimes I'm not sure if Maj's ideas are a true reflection of the Moroccan culture or if they're just him... Like he says he hates using his cousin as our co-sponsor because he thinks he'll tell everyone how he helped Majid get to this country and it's because of him that he's here.

Oh well, I hope his cousin comes through for us soon because his visa's up on the 14th. We were supposed to go there this afternoon but we can't because of the snow.

Rachid, give us more details on your 221(g), are you sure you were denied? We had a 221g and it was just to wait for a security check.

Liz I wish you and Abdel lots of luck. We submitted our paperwork 8/13 and by November we had our AOS appointment date set for 1/26. We lived only 20 minutes from our interview office. I sure hope yours will be closer and you receive an interview date real soon. Now we need to time the 2 year interview just right. In his Welcome to America notice they said to schedule it a few months beforehand, now when is that???? I guess I should just relax for at least a year before back to immigration again.

Anyway :D Good Luck :dance::dance:
